Hi. Our garage is full of stuff and we need to get rid of some electronics (tv, fax machine, DVD player) that no longer work. Any ideas or suggestions other than the trash?

My church youth group gathers old electronics for an ongoing fundraiser...they pass it on to some company that gives them a few dollars for it. I know my youth group would be tickled pink to get it! First Baptist Church, The Colony. The Youth Pastor is John Pecararo ###-###-####.
You can also use freecycle.org to give/get things.
I think the City of Plano offers an electronics 'drop off' day once or twice a month (off Plano Parkway). If Plano is too far, contact your city department and see if they offer a similar service.

Yes, you can take it once a month to a place here in Plano. It's called Parkway Service Center. 4120 W. Plano Parkway, from 9-11 am. Check out www.planoenvironmentalwaste.com. They even pay you for the stuff you take. Spread the word.

Check your city's website. For example, in Frisco we can dispose of electronic parts at a facility in downtown Frisco on certain Wednesdays and I think on some Saturdays. Also, you may check with Best Buy to see if they handle that.
In the case of computers remember that information on the hard disc may be retrievable. I disable mine by breaking it.
