I am going to be going this June or July with my husband and daughter (she will be one year old) . Anyone know of any fun places to go and sight see ? We are going to be staying with my husbands parents by the way, and they live not too far from San Juan, but we wouldn't mind traveling to go somewhere.

What can I do next?

My husband and I have been to Puerto Rico 2 times. Both times we spent about a month. I have a friend that owns a home in Las Marias which is on the other side of the island compared to San Juan. I think that you should try to tour as much of the island as you can. Rincon is on the other side also and it is beautiful, the beaches are fantastic and are known to surfers as having great waves. I think the salt mines are in that area also. You will have to visit the rainforest, I think the name of the town is Las Llamas or something like that. Definately try pinchos, they are like shish kabobs and are sold on the side of the road - they are yummy!
The roads are narrow and windy and along mountain cliffs and they drive like crazy over there so be careful

I highly recommend that you visit Culebra, it is a little island in Puerto Rico, I think that you can take a little 4 seater over from Old San Juan, it takes about 15 minutes to get there and it is worth it. Culebra is not very crowded with people and it is absolutely beautiful with the most beautiful beaches with white sand and clear turquois water and beautiful bluffs to tour.

Also, make sure that you see a cocqui, (probably spelled wrong) it is a little frog with suction cups on its feet that climbs the walls and sings "cocqui, cocqui", it is very cute.

Have fun!

Old San Juan was my favorite as well. We wanted to tour the fort but it was closed for something. Tons of little shops and good food. We went to a restaurant called Barracina more than once the server "Gabriel" was amazing (our sever each time). They claim to be the home of the Pina Coloda. LOL Best drink I've ever had was their Blended Mojito sounds gross but they layer it with this passion fruit stuff that was pretty great. We only stayed 3 days :( wish it was more, would love go back!

I have take a couple cruise out of San Juan. The ships doc in old town, which a pretty nice, with a fortress at the top of the city that was fun to go around. From what I understand you and get some get last minute cruises from San Juan if the ship isn't full. If that is what you meant by traveling to somewhere. Southern Caribbean is great!!!

We really enjoyed Old San Juan and the rain forest. Luquillo (sp?) has beautiful beaches! Also did the caves, that was very interesting as well. I hope you have a good carrier for your daughter as a stroller is going to be a challenge at those places.

Old San Juan is SO nice. It's this gorgeous historic area and there is plenty to do. The beaches are nice, so I assume you will be doing some of that as well? If your husband's parents live there, then I would ask them (or have them ask friends) for recommendations of places that are their favorites. Usually the best spots to go are the ones that the locals go to, not the ones that the tourists like. Have fun!

I agree that old san juan is fun. I liked several of the beachs; the beaches at isla verde, and rincon. Also the rainforest was amazing! Don't know about doing this with the baby, but it is amazing to take a walk through the rainforest!
Make sure you get to go to one of the beaches on the Caribbean side, it was the first time I had been in the crystal blue waters and it was awesome!
Have a great time!
