Any Moms with Teenagers on Here? or Those That Have Been Thru the Teen Years?

Before I post a very specific question, just want to know if you're here or not? Seems all of the posts I've seen come from new Moms (pregnancy, babies, toddlers, preschoolers, etc). I'm having some trouble (and that's putting it mildly) with my 16 y/o daughter and would appreciate advice and/or what's worked for you. This is especially hard, because she was brought up A/P from the beginning, and I didn't expect things like this to happen!

Please let me know if any of you are lurking out there?

While I am still just a mother of almost three small children, I have over ten years experience managing teens in the fast-paced and challenging environment of bagging groceries at a military commissary. The teenage boys were always rambunctious, but surprisingly reasonable. The girls, however, were much more complicated to deal with. It got to a point where I relinquished that I really needed to learn more about dealing with their almost daily angst-ridden issues. My friend, who was majoring in Psychology at the time, suggested this book:
Reviving Ophelia: Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls by Mary Pipher. I know you may not have the time nor the inclination to read a book right now, but it's SO worth it. Once I was able to see beyond my own personal frustrations, I was in a much better position to help the girls through their troubled times. We even managed to build healthy, respectful relationships with each other. Try it out...blessings to you!

I am a 25 year old mother of two with #3 on the way... my youngest is only 6 but I remember very well what is was like to be a teen. I made about every bad choice and mistake there is to make and they all started at about 16, having children saved my life, I went through drug and alcohol addiction, abusive relationship, being sexually abused, and dropping out of school and getting kicked out on the street, I would like to try and help if I can, Now that I am married and a mother, I have worked out things and my family is close again. feel free to ask and I will do what I can.
Good luck.
