Hi Mamas!

I'm having a house party in a month and want to rent a jumpy house thingy. Any dos or don'ts? I was thinking of not getting one that includes a water portion for muddy mess reasons. Are some jumpy house styles hotter inside than others (since it will be August?)

Thanks Mamas!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone!! I had NO IDEA that I could buy one for about the cost of renting one! It arrived a few days ago and we are already the hit of the neighborhood! My son and his friends are having a ball on it every day when we get home from work/daycare. The party's next weekend, where it will for sure be thoroughly enjoyed by the 15-20 kids coming. Can't wait!

Have a great weekend, Mamas! I love this forum of smart diverse women!

They are all very hot. The water ones are a whole lot more comfortable. But little kids don't seem to feel the heat the way we adults do. I do suggest you station an adult at the door to help the kids get in and out - that seems to be a place when there are a lot of falls. If it's possible put it in the shade. If there are going to be little kids and big kids try to keep the big kids and little kids in separate "sessions". The bigger kids don't realize how aggressive they can be and how little the little kids are. if a 25 lb kid bumps into a 40 lb kid it's not so bad. But bumping into a 85 lb kid is another story.

Good luck mama!

We've rented the bouncy houses for our daughter's birthday in August. The 1st time we did it I didn't book it early enough so couldn't get it from one of the places that deliver it to you. Big mistake...they are extremely heavy and rather difficult to maneuver to setup unless you have multiple adults doing it. It literally took 5 of us to carry it. Lesson learned...always have them deliver/setup and take down. Much less hassle. It will be hot but the kids don't mind it. Make sure the unit is staked down. I have seen them tip over with kids inside.

Peace and Blessings,

Make sure the area is flat. Any type of slope and it will roll over. Be sure that where you place it, you are able to stake it down.

Any adult should be standing guard at all times that someone is inside, whether it is kids or adults. (an adult fell at the edge and pulled the whole thing over with 5 adults inside)

Make sure it has lots of the netting so air can circulate. Make sure you have extra pairs if socks for the kids to put on..in the summer the kids arrive in sandals.

Make sure you state the rules to all of them. Limited amount of people at a time. Keep a kitchen timer close by so you can keep up with the time

Have a beverage cooler close by so they can get water, maybe have some towels so they can wipe off their faces with cool water.

IF an adult has to go in with a young child, only that adult and the child should be in there. I encourage the adult to sit, while the young child jumps. An adult falling on a child is not good.

Rough housing, you pull that child out for 10 minutes timeout.

They really are a blast, take a ton of photos.

We have rented the bouncy house for our August birthday party for a few years. We have never done the water slide one though. We always had the bouncy house with the big slide on one side, bounce in the middle and basketball hoops in there too. They are great for kids parties, you do not need to plan any other games because the kids will stay in there the entire time. They do get hot, but they don't stop. The only problem that we encountered was that once evening approached the slide portion was difficult to slide on because the kids started to stick to the slide.
Good Luck

Yes they do get hot inside, remind the kids not to go all in at once and take turns so for the lil ones don't get hurt in anyway follow the rules and guidelines they differ from sizes the company should have them posted on their site or ask for them, if it is extremely windy that day it's not safe to use, have the proper outlet to hook it up.We rent these for our school carnival

we rented one 2 years agao and we got a great deal on one. they are a ton of fun. the kids loved it! the one thing i didn't consider with budgeting the price of one is how it will affect your electric bill. my bill the next month was 70 dollars higher because of it. so make sure you consider that to.

Put it in the shade and somewhere where it will be easy for an adult to keep an eye on at all times. Make time for water breaks so the kids don't get dehydrated from all the sweating and exercise. If there will be multiple age groups of kids, let the big kids go separately from the little kids so no one gets bounced too hard. Adult supervision is a must though, even good kids try to get away with stuff like pushing and flips when no one's looking. Have fun!

Be wary of drunk fathers who think it's funny to pull the plug on it, letting all the air out, collapsing it on scared children. (Let the record state this was not my husband)

Buy one! We did a ton of research and found it was cheaper to buy one off Amazon then to rent. ANd we have used literally 200+ times. It takes 10 seconds to blow up with the included airpump. Ours, 4 kids can jump in at the same time plus turns into a water jump as well. Amazing

And yes, do not allow adults in it.

Pay for someone to deliver, set up, take down.

Do not let little kids and big kids/adults in at the same time. My daughter (17) was at an event and sprained her ankle because the attendant let two younger smaller kids in at the same time. She didn't want to hurt the small child and in her attempt to avoid her, she got hurt.

I would definitely reconsider the water slide! We had one for a party and the kids LOVED it! The company (moonjumps) was great and it wasn't much of a mess. The bounce houses are really hot. I did see there were obstacle courses available that may not have had water, but more air flow so probably not as hot. That's an option! Also, with the water slide we had , the water was not on the whole time. The pool gets filled up and then their wet boxide are enough for them to slide. It really was a blast, and big enough for adults.

I don't know how much they are to rent, but my MIL bought one for our kids last April. It was 179.00 at Meijer. It is still going strong and we use it 2-3 times a week. Totally worth the expense. It fits about 7 or so kids and is surrounded by netting with a big red slide on one side. Just a thought. Good luck!

I'm all about the jump houses. When my husband and I first bought out house we threw a party. We had no kids, so no toys, no swingset. He has a large family. There are now 33 grandchildren for his mom and dad but back then I'm guessing there was at least 27 that could go in a jumpy house or be bored to tears. It was awesome. We rent them every year from Bouncin' Around for our block party. I rented one last year for my daughter's Communion party because once again so many kids, all different ages. Just make sure that the place you rent from has insurance. Never rent a bounce house that doesn't cover normal wear and tear.

As far as the one with the water slide.. I wouldn't but that's just me. Seems like there could be a lot more accidents that could go wrong (when you add water) & its wet on one of those. Not to mention the water bill? Ugh. Not sure how much water they use but it seems like its alot. Then x's that by four hours. Just something to think about.

Have a great party!

Rent from a company who will deliver and take down. The hardest part is folding and preparing for the pick up unless you ask that this will be done for you (honestly, most companies would rather do it to prevent it from being done wrong). Also, if it is an indoor party, make sure to inflate and check the interior of the bounce area for wetness/mold/mud. We rented 2 for 2 different age groups, one arrived soaking wet and too muddy to use..we wasted the $$ and ruined our method of separating two age groups.
