Wanted to get some feedback from you whether or not you think the air purifiers or air sanitizers really do any good? Do they prevent dander in the air/mitigate germs etc? Do they work? Do you have one and can you tell the difference it has made? We don't have allergies, but we do have pets and we all know what a PEST that they can be at times, bringing in the outdoors with them, every time they come in the house (from outside). Just wondering what you all thought about them......before someone in the family runs out and gets me one for xmas! Oh, if you do recommend them, can you tell me what brand you have -- and whether the high dollar one's are worth it?
Thanks.

What can I do next?

I have severe allergies and chemical sensitivies and find that the Holmes HEPA air purifier (we have one in every room) does help alot. We also have pets and while it doesn't entirely reduce the dirt and debris from them, it helps. If you aren't chemically sensitive, likely you don't need the more expensive ones like IQAir, which are definitely better (that's on my wish list as they're 5x the cost of the Holmes brand). You do have to change the charcoal filter on the Holmes at least every ninety days - those aren't too expensive. But, the HEPA filters themselves also require annual replacement and that will cost you $30 - $45 per unit (depending upon the size of the unit).

hi ,
We're using sharper image air purifier. It really works well in eliminating odors plus it's so quiet.
I tested it at first by putting it in a room with some smelly garbage and I came back to that room after some time and the bad smell was gone.
Try it !

We have two different filters by IQ Air, yes they are expensive. Yes, they are ugly and bulky. We totally notice a difference in the air quality of our home. I would not own another brand after having one of these. The air is clean adn fresh and my husband is not bothered by his many allergies at all when we run them.

We use the Ionic Breeze. We can definately tell the difference when we don't use it. It is very easy to maintain. You just wipe the inside clean, just like the commercial. I think they retail for a little over $500, but we purchased it from the Ionic Breeze Ebay store for half price (you don't have to bid on it, you can just "but it now"). It is a refurbished model, but it comes with a warranty just like the new ones. We just love ours.

I just bought Honeywell air purifier with HEPA system, it works very well. I put it in my kids room and let it run all day and you can smell the difference, the air is clean and it helps with their allergies...and it is super quiet!

We have an air purifier, by Holmes I think. We got it at Target, I think it was about 100 dollars. I have asthma and it works wonders. When the air quality is bad outside, we just turn that baby on. I notice a difference in my sniffling and sneezing. Be careful not to get one that produce ozone, or uses ozone. Ozone can actually make allergies flare and harm you.

My hubby w/ bad allergies did notice he was able to breathe better w/ our new air purifier. Honeywell QuietCare 17000 Air Purifier
You DO not need to spend an arm & a leg for a good quality & value unit. Do your research... I did, using the websites below. Home Depot has a few of the more expensive units ($150-$200, that I was unable to find at Target or Walmart.

The reviews I saw in my research on the Ionic Breeze was BAD- buyer beware!
