My hcg level is in the 4,000 range but last week my doc told me it went up but didnt go up enough and that my pregnancy didnt seem to be healthly. I was wondering if anyone has delt with this and was able to continue the pregnancy. she told me last friday and so far no major cramps or any bleeding. i'm tring to be patient and possitive it's just hard when i dont know what to expect. And im not very pleased with the dr. already! If anyone has any info please let me know thanks so much.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you all sooo much. so i have a crazy update! first i was trying to make long story short and left out that i had my june period(6/5) three days after it ended i had spotting for a while i went to my family dr.(6/19) thats when i found out i am pg. the next week(tuesday) went to obgyn she thought i already lost it (because of spotting/light bleeding) until my hcg level came back,(3,289) i started the progesterone. then the 2nd hcg came in didnt go up ENOUGH (3,972) she said (this was friday)I guess because of my hcg they thaught i was farther along. she hasnt had me do anymore blood work! that seems odd to me. yesterday(tuesday) I went for my ultrasound they did an internal and a external and said they didnt see anything good/bad. now im totally confused. I could be alot earlier in my pregnancy. but in that case why are my levels so high??? I'M WAITING ON DR TO CALL. either way I'm defenitly switching to a another dr. We've only known for 2 weeks and its been the craziest 2 weeks of my life!(no more spotting no cramping, boobs still swollen & tender)Sorry if thats to much info :) I just dont get it! How long does it take for hormones to return to normal if something did had happen maybe right before i found out? I still had possitive pt today.

You will probably need to take the Progesterone for more than six days. I had to take it for months. Please find a better doctor. If you don't feel like the dr. is compassionate it won't get any better.

Congratulations! With my daughter I never had "normal" readings/numbers. I went in when I was about a week or two pregnant and was told my number was like 20, very low to be pregnant, but too high not to be so they had me come back the next week to test again then it was a 12 the lowest number to be pregnant. They did an ultrasound that day to ensure it wasn't an epotch pregnancy. Thankfully it was not so they put on progestrone to help continue the pregnancy. Now almost five years later my daughter is very healthly and has had no major helth problems after the first year. She did have a mild digestion problem until she was about 1 -11/2 she couldn't digest the formula and refused to nuse. Easily fixed with lac-to-lose (SP) it is an undigestible suger which helped her be able to pass BMs. She is now on nothing and has not problem with BM or constipation. :)

Im sorry to hear that. I had that problem and mine was because The baby detached or something and died. They were never able to find heart beat. My case may be different though. There is a lot of reasons for things there is a lot going on in the beginning of pregnancy. If you do not feel comfortable with that docter you need to find another. I wish you the best of luck. Please let me know how things go. I bet ererything is fine. It will be ok. You in my prayers.

Hi M.,
I haven't read any other responses, so please forgive me if this is redundant... if you are not comfortable with your current dr, please get a referral to another one! I had some issues with my first group of dr's and finally had to go to a dr that I liked (primary care) and ask him to refer me to someone else. We had a pretty frank conversation about my needs, and based on my those and my personality, he referred me to the BEST doctor! The rest of my pregnancy was an emotional breeze comparatively, and I was left wondering what took me so long! The best thing you can do as a patient is to be your own advocate. Explain to dr's how you expect to be treated, and if they can't handle that, move on! Good luck!

My best friend has never had normal levels during a pregnancy and she has 3 beautiful children. In fact, she doesn't show pregnant on a BLOOD test until the 2nd trimester. So don't worry so soon. If you aren't sure about your doctor change now. SHe won't get any nicer I can assure you.

Get the Wise Woman Herbal Childbearing Year book, by Susun Weed. There could be something in your diet or a tea you're drinking that is undermining the pregnancy.

My first advice: If your doctor doesn't seem very compationate, GET A NEW ONE!

Second Advice: Take it easy. I know that is hard to do, but you don't need any added stress. I did have a miscarriage with my first pregnancy because of the HCG levels. Just try to be patient. Your doctor should tell you that a miscarriage means that the baby would have been unhealthy anyway. Leave it to God. He will provide on HIS time---not yours! Have faith. God Bless you and your family!

Maybe you're pregnant with twins! I have read all over the twin websites that your HCG levels are really high when your having more than one. I am pregnant with twins now, but I never asked what my HCG numbers were so I don't have any first hand knowledge.
