A Good Resource for Solid Wood Kid's Furniture?

Hello Mamasource Moms,

We are looking for a retailer that sells solid wood kid's furniture. About a year ago we purchased a Pottery Barn Kids bedroom set for my son and at the time I didn't realize that it was veneer over wood. Well, now the veneer is chipping in several places and the furniture looks horrible. We'd like to get another bedroom set, but want to find one that is solid wood (painted or stained wood is fine, just no veneer) Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you.

M.

You could try Benwood Furniture in Fairfield. They have a website - www.benwoodfurniture.com

Try Stumasa in San Francisco. www.stumasa.com. Lots of great wood furniture either unfinished or they'll finish or paint it for you for an extra fee. Also, they will custom make whatever you want.

Maybe they have bedroom sets? But try looking at...

We ordered a couple bedroom items (tables/chairs/etc)from this place and we are very happy with the product.

That's too bad cuz I'm sure you spent a pretty penny on that furniture! Have you tried contacting Pottery Barn & explaining what happened & see what they'll do for you? Since it's barely a year old, it seems kinda soon for it to be chipping. I also suggest finding a place that has the wood unstained. With most of those kindsa stores, you can either stain it yourself or they'll stain it for you. There used to be one in Oakland & the City called Saw Mill but not sure if they're still around. Just try googling 'unfinished wood furniture' & see what comes up. Good luck!

We bought our most recent kids furniture at an unfinished wood store so we had to stain it ourselves. The store we went to was in Pensacola, Florida before we moved but I am sure there are stores around here. We were very pleased with what we got at a fraction of the price of finished furniture.
