9 y.o. Boy Birthday Party Ideas
My nine year old is having his first slumber party with 4 other 9 year olds invited. I am not sure what will entertain these kids and am looking for game ideas that would keep them interested. What has worked for you? Thanks!

Just this summer we had a slumber party with five other 9 yrs. old on a rainy night so they couldn't go out and play. We made up a pin the nose on the clown, drop the straw in the jar, they danced to some cd's, played hide and seek. These we're girls so then they sat around and gossiped. plus threw cake and ice cream, and unwrapping presents. They were up way past one in the morning just gabbing and fooling around.

Hey E.,
Have you thought about a scavenger hunt? Then later afterwards a movie and popcorn, brownies...I think it is a good idea to have a set bedtime too simply because they could keep you up all night!! I have let my kids have sleepovers and I set up "camp" on the livingroom floor and make some snacks, pop in a movie. I also had a survivor theme one year that went very well. I suggest you google sleepover ideas for boys or check out some birthday party sites. Good Luck...and have FUN!

My daughter just had her first slumber party in December. She had 4 girls, she turned 10. To be honest w/you they were happy to just hang out in her room and watch movies. We had pizza and she wanted a giant cookie instead of a cake. I also have an 11 year old son and his friends prefer also to beleft alone and they like to play the playstation.

Hi there! I have 3 boys (14, 7, 5)....the younger 2 have summer birthdays, so the parties are always outside. Winter birthdays are a little more challanging (I think!). Kids love to make things....so why don't you do a craft or possibly cook something with them? This could also double as a party favor which could save a little money? Joanne Fabrics, Pat Catans and Oriental Trading (catalog/internet) have lots of great, fun craft kits. Then to wind them down you can watch a movie and eat popcorn. Good luck =D

Yeah Kids pretty much want to do what they want. DONT stress yourself ot alot about it. Its so much easier when the bdays are in the warmer weather!
Id ask HIM, his opinion. Since its His day he will love to put some thought and input in im sure. I agree 100% with the movies and popcorn and snacks, Oh and Pizza!!
Have some lil food trays set up to munch on. I did chips, pretzles, dip and then a veggie tray & dip. That way its not all unhealthy food.
Also a cool idea is make your own pizzas and sundaes! or maybe a slushie maker thing or make them in your blander if you have one. I seen some realy nice ones at target and have one from Walmart. They are nice! and you can make koolaid or pop slushies if you dont have the sno cone syrup. I know I have a slushie recipe around here too! And im sure you can find some online as well!
Rent some video games and have some board games handy to play. We have tuns of board games and we usually let the kids pick out one for bdays and such..overnighters!!
Theres alot of things yu an do with the kids.
Just ask your son some things he might enjoy doing?
Coloring books/crayons/markers
Painting
make a ALL ABOUT "your son" Trivia and see who knows him best?
treasure hunts are way cool! and kids love them at any age!
maybe make up sopme specail things/packages for the boys staying over.
You can even do like t-shirts with them or pillowcases or anything! Take pics!!!

E.,
The best advice I can give you as a mother of a 12 and soon to be 10 year old is to talk to your 9 year old and get a theme for the party. maybe something that all the boys like in common. also, have plenty of snacks and drinks. you will be surprised how many snacks and drinks boys this age can consume. Try some cool newer movies that boys love. Cars is a good one. My 10 year old watches it over and over again. Some good indoor games to play that even boys like is twister, or a variation of hot potato where the last person who has the item being passed gets to take it home as a prize... use items like hot wheels, action figures and things like that. Another thing my boys like to do at parties is to take a large bowl of jello and bury little plastic or rubber bugs in them and have to dig them out. sounds gross and messy but boys love that sort of thing. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
