9 Weeks Ultrasound,Dr. Found Very Small Blood Clot in Uterus,is This Normal??

I had my 9 weeks ultrasound today.I got to hear the heartbeat,it was a pretty high 185.The doctor said it was fine and probably just because I was nervous and excited. They also found what the doctor called a tiny blood clot in my uterus. She said it was fine and didn't expect any problems from it and told me not to worry, but being the paranoid person I am of course I am worried. She scheduled another ultrasound for 2 weeks from now because, she said,if I was so worried about it they'd do the ultrasound to ease my worries.I was just wondering if anyone else had a small blood clot in uterus during pregnany? Is this normal,or dangerous? Also,is the high heart rate a cause for concern? This is my first baby and I don't want to take any chances. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I have a 7 mo old girl-my 2nd- but the pregnancy between my son and daughter miscarried, so when i became pregnant with her, i researched every last little thing as i had had some spotting early on and panicked. from all accounts that i've read, a blood clot is not any sign to worry-it will most likely resolve itself as the water sac and placenta grow, and sometimes can cause light bleeding as it dissolves due to growth. Now that's not to say to overlook any bleeding in pregnancy, but I also don't want you to panic and assume the worst if you do later on. All in all, i've heard of this happening to all types of pregnant women and to the best of my knowledge, it caused no problems

I had a clot found at 8.5 weeks and I just had a beautiful baby girl 9/17 :). Mine was discovered when I started bleeding from it, though, so don't panic if you start to bleed. It was enough that I was convinced I had lost baby, then they did the u/s which showed a thriving baby and a clot. I bled for another week or two, then all was well. I don't mean to panic you;
I just want to let you know that even if it gets scary you shouldn't lose hope. OH, and some people will really give you horror stories, so be ready!

Good luck, and congrats on your pregnancy!

I don't know if it's normal but it is common. My daughter's sister-in-law had this and it went away. Hers was quite large in comparison to her baby.

I have to agree with Kathy P. Early ultrasounds often make us more nervous than not. So relax and the high heart rate of your baby usually indicates a girl--but that can change too. It's normal or babies heart rates to be high. I was told anything 120 or below was a boy, but our daughter had a 'boy' heart rate so there went that 'theory'.

Don't worry, worrying is not good for you or the baby. Your doctor has done this numerous times I'm sure and if they don't see a need to worry, then don't worry.

BTW, congratulations!!

THis is actually not all that high of a rate for a baby. I think my daughter's baby's heart rate was around 160.

I've not heard of having a blood clot in their uterus but that doesn't mean it's not normal. I seriously urge you to trust your doctor. It's only 9 wks and if you keep worrying in spite of wht the doctor tells you, you're going to soon be a wreck which is very much not good for your baby, you, and the rest of your family and friends,.

If you don't trust this doctor, find another one. I urge you to start counseling to learn how to deal with your worrying. Sounds like you have an anxiety problem that you really do need to get a handle on. :Your worry will only increase with the birth of the baby. Everything is new and you're feeling responsible for a precious life.

A lot of women don't have u/s this early in pregnancy, so this may be a common condition that goes away on its own w/o a problem. Also, u/s is not always perfect -- numerous stories abound of babies being identified as the wrong sex; major or minor problems that either resolved themselves by the next visit or by the end of pregnancy, or perhaps weren't there to start with; vastly wrong differences in weight (u/s predicted 10 lb baby, so the mom had a C-section with a *surprise* 6 lb baby who then needed to be in the NICU because s/he was actually premature).

This is a huge reason why I am opposed to u/s in the early part of pregnancy -- more often than not, it gives mothers a reason to worry, for what is really no reason at all, and even if there is something going on, **there's nothing that can be done anyway**!!! Worry certainly doesn't help, and may even hurt -- yes, stress causes changes in your body, and does affect your baby. What can be done now, even if the heartbeat is abnormally high? Absolutely nothing (except perhaps you can work on stress reduction, take relaxation courses or something -- which is a good thing to do anyway). What can be done now if there is a blood clot in your uterus? Absolutely nothing. What is the point of you worrying about it? Absolutely nothing.

I know you're nervous and scared about the blood clot, but the doctor says it's no problem, so expect it to be no problem. Ultrasounds are not without risks -- the FDA says they should not be done except for medical necessity (although doctors do them even when they are not medically necessary all the time). There really have been no long-term studies about the safety of u/s, and particularly at the rates most women these days have u/s, nor with the higher-quality u/s. Doctors are looking into using u/s as a method of sterilizing men, but we're using u/s to look at developing babies. Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. We know that u/s does have effects on body tissues -- but what effect is it having on growing babies?

I too had a clot which they called a "pool of old blood" at 6-7 weeks. At my 9 week appt. it was gone. Don't worry about it. My daughter is now almost 3 and perfectly fine. My mom always says, "Don't worry until there is a reason to worry." It's hard, but so true.

I had a blood clot right next to my daughter, on our first ultrasound. I was a nervous wreck...but she was fine!!!!! The best thing you can do is relax. Take deep breaths. The baby feels everything...let her or him know it is okay!!

So so so so so many things can be detected as "possible" on early ultrasounds. Many prove to have no merit upon the next screening.
Please, take your doctor's advice and don't worry if your doctor isn't.
It's hard, I know. But, I can promise you....when you get the "bad" look from the tech and your doctor, THAT'S when you start to worry.

Worry isn't good for your baby. It's not good for you either.
Don't borrow trouble.
If you are a typically paranoid person, go ahead and schedule the next ultrasound, but in the meantime, relax and visualize a healthy baby.
Stressing isn't good for you.
When I was pregnant with my son, I was bleeding so much that they said it likely wasn't a viable pregnancy. They couldn't find a heart beat.
My son is 15 years old, perfectly healthy and the joy of my life.

Don't search the web....just listen to your doctor. Take care of yourself and your baby.

Congratulations and I wish you the best.
