Since late last week I've noticed that my 21 month old has a red scrotum, only on the right side. I've put diaper rash cream on it along with baby powder and it hasn't gotten any better. If anything I think it's gotten slightly worse. After looking at it closely I noticed there are also small bumps and it looks a little swollen. My husband and I noticed that he's also been grabbing himself and pulling on his diaper throughout the day. I plan on calling his doctor first thing tomorrow morning but was wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this and what it could be.

What can I do next?

Sounds like a yeast infection to me. My son got them a lot. Simple anti-fungal cream will do the trick. I used to keep a steady stock of Monistat just for my son.

definitely yeast.. get some over the counter yeast cream it doesn't matter if it is for feminine yeast or jock itch or athletes foot.. all yeast cream is the same..

areas of the body that stay wet are prone to yeast.. so vaginaal areas.. scrotal areas and feet are yeasty places..

a nice soak in the tub will help him too..
I would try yeast cream for 24 hours before I took him to the dr.

my son has lots of problems like this..

Yep, sounds like jock itch or yeast infection.
Monistat should help.
In addition you can try adding 1 cup of plain yogurt to his bath water.
