2 Year Old Who Has Had Red Cheeks Her Entire Life!?
My daughter recently turned two yrs old. She has very chubby and very red cheeks. People are constantly commenting on them. I'm used to how they look, but I have just started to wonder if this is something I should worry about?? I put aquaphor on them at night, as they seem dry and if I don't keep them moisturized they get even more red. Could this be a symptom of an underlying health issue? Her ped has never said anything about it. I know it's not rosacea as only adults get that.

Hi, I have keratosis pilaris (look it up if you don't know what it is) which causes reddening of the skin and small bumps on my upperarms. This attributes to me also having red cheeks. It isn't horrible but it can only be covered up with makeup.
My daughter (who is 6 months old) also has red cheeks, no bumps or anything yet though. I looked upt he condition and it can be hereditary. People always comment on her cheeks and say she looks like she's constantly hot bc they stay red. Ijust don't say anything and will teach her to cover it with make up as soon as she gets old enough.

It sounds like eczema. We preferred Gentle Naturals Eczema wash and cream when our son was young. Now the doctor has us wash with Dove or Ivory (unscented), and use Vanicream while the skin is still moist. We also use All Free and Clear for laundry. GL!

It could be a reaction to a food sensitivity. Food sensitivities often show up in the form of skin irritation. You may want to consider having her tested for allergies and sensitivities. You could also just give a try at eliminating dairy from her diet and see if it improves. Other possibilities could be soy or eggs. You should completely remove all forms of each of those foods, one at a time, for at least 2 weeks as it takes at least that long for the body to remove all traces of the allergen until you notice a change in her skin. If no change occurs then you can start looking into other causes.

It could be eczema, or something like that. I work with Melaleuca, who has great skin care products - if it's eczema or not their products may be able to help. They're all natural and are really easy on the skin. www.livetotalwellness.com/joycita I'd be happy to give you any information that I can, so either check out my website and ask for more info, or send me an email ____@____.com and I'll to my best to help!

Our youngest son had really red cheeks for a while. Sometimes his chin would be red, too. It turned out that he was drooling a LOT when he slept! We ended up putting lotion on his face when he woke up, after we washed his face, before nap, after nap, and after bed. It really helped a lot. Within abotu 2 weeks, it was under control.
We used lotion that my husband's grandmother gave us. It was a mixture of vaseline, pink lotion (like Johnson and Johnson), and vitamin E cream. She used a hand mixer, and it is fabulous lotion!
I hope this helps!

I'd mention it the next time you have her at the doctor's office just to be sure it isn't something easily rectified by continuing what you're currently doing.
Our dermatologist has us using a product called Vanicream (OTC lotion - should be able to get any pharmacy to order). It's free of dyes, fragrances, etc. and is as good as aquaphor at hydrating without the grease. We use it for her eczema, and it's really been helpful.

Maybe she has sensitive skin. My boys all had a variety of things, dry skin, patches, redness, etc. I switched to Arbonne's baby care line and their skin balanced out and are beautiful!! Even the doctors and nurses have commented on it. :)
Good luck,
L.

My daughter had similar issue - I make sure I wash her face with a washcloth only (no soap) and never tempted to use a baby wipe... I was those washclothes in Dreft.
I found if I kept her checks moisturia\zed, it made a big differance. Like a face car routine - a daily deal. I have had success with Aveda (salon stuff) lotion and also very good with Melaleuca brand Renew lotion (you will have to look up a consultant on line to find someone by you to buy it from).
I would reccommend trying that. Make sure whatever kind of lotion you decide on does not have fragrance in it and is more natural. Sensitive skin is aggrevated by fragrance and other things in lotion as well.
