10 Year Anniversary Cake

We will be celecrating our 10 year anniversary next weekend. We are having a party at our home with about 40-50 people. I want a cake but not sure what kind. I dont want just a plain sheet cake- something fun or creative. We didnt have a wedding cake so I am kind of leaning towards a scaled down, less formal version of a wedding cake. I also have a little saying that I want to incorporate into it- "Loved you then, love you still, always have, always will".

Any ideas moms? I have not talked to a baker yet- just trying to come up with an idea first.

Thanks moms!

As a cake decorator myself, I would recommend doing a round, two tiered, cascading effect and instead of any kind of decoration/piping on the side I would use the words going around each layer. The only piping I would do would be the seams at the base of each layer. When it comes to the colors, if you are still fond of them, I would recommend the wedding colors and since the ten year anniversary in diamond I would use edible diamond dust for a little shimmer. All in all I would keep it simple in order to make the words stand out. I love the saying by the way and congrats on the Ten Years together. I hope you guys have a great time.

You could get cupcakes, and arrange them in tiers. I'm good friends with a cupcake shop owner, and her wedding cupcakes are beautiful.

If you decide on a cake and want something different..our wedding cake was a rosewater cake. It's a vanilla cake that is infused with rose water. The frosting was rosewater infused as well. It was hands down the best cake I've ever had, because you taste vanilla, but you smell roses as you eat it. Ours was decorated in tiers with flowers on it. When we ate the top tier a year later, it brought back all the vivid wedding memories. Much more nostalgic than a regular cake you've had a hundred times!

picture this 2 tiered fondant cake. In your wedding colors. or maybe silver and white. an oval with your saying on it in calligraphy, attached across the front of the top tier.

I would suggest a wedding cake style in one of the colors of your wedding and on each layer you could have your little saying. Bottom layer-always will, third layer always have second layer love you still and top layer loved you then.
See if the baker can stencil the lettering on the cake layers in a cursive or caligraphy style lettering that is slightly formal but also easy to read.
Good luck and congratulations post a pic of your decision.

They'll have ideas for you. Look at the books they (should) have or go on-line for ideas.

Go to a wedding cake maker and tell them you want a cake that tastes great and looks good. Ask your husband what kind of cake (flavor) he wants. If you and he can't agree, then have two cakes and keep then separate or push them together. I love chocolate cake. My wife loves white vanilla cakes. Hers was what she wanted, mine was what I wanted and both tasted great. I didn't care about any designs or decorations so my wife chose the designs and decorations.

Good luck to you and yours.

I definitely think you should do a smaller, three tiered cake. Maybe 3 different flavors and have your quote written on the side of each tier. Just look at the bakery's pictures and pick out something you like, and have them tweak it to your style.
