Business description (provided by the business owner):

Sheer Naturals founder and owner, Carrie Strimel, discovered mineral makeup while viewing an infomercial. Having suffered from sensitive skin her entire life, Carrie was anxious to try an all-natural makeup claiming to be safe for sensitive skin. However, the results were far less than she anticipated.
“Due to my sensitive skin, most liquid foundations would cause breakouts, enlarged pores and excessive oils. After seeing an infomercial advertising mineral makeup, I quickly ordered my kit and immediately began using the product. Within a few days, I noticed an uncomfortable, itchy feeling. Though concerned with the discomfort, I continued use of the product hoping for different results. To no avail, I discontinued use of the makeup and reluctantly returned to liquid foundation. Later that year, I discovered another brand promising their so-called “natural” mineral makeup would give me an airbrushed look. Of course I had to try it. Following the initial application, my entire face turned red! I was compelled to figure out what ingredients were causing this reaction and why is it seemed exclusive to the mineral makeup. That’s when my research began”
Several years later, Carrie had the answer and the solution. Through extensive research, she discovered certain manufacturers use talc as filler which can be extremely irritating to many skin types. Talc has been known to cause redness and breakouts. Another culprit is Bismuth Oxychloride (referred to as bismuth on many labels). This ingredient is used to provide a pearlesque (a.k.a. shiny) look to the skin. Bismuth is a byproduct of mineral refining, making this ingredient extremely inexpensive and has been shown to cause itching and redness. Armed with this knowledge, Carrie created a complete line of mineral makeup guaranteed to contain no fillers, chemicals, dyes or preservatives – only 100% pure, naturally occurring minerals native to Mother Earth.
Since its official launch early 2008, Sheer Minerals has been widely accepted by estheticians, salons and spas in the North Dallas area. Our clients rave about their experiences which have resulted from using Sheer Naturals’ complete product line.
“We are committed to bringing only the purest, finest and guaranteed all-natural ingredients to each and every product we introduce and will never short-change the research required to obtain such results.” …Carrie Strimel, Owner and Founder of Sheer Naturals

The concept of mineral make up has always made sense to me and I was curious to try it for myself until I saw the mess in the bathroom
after my two teens both received Bare Mineral starter kits for Christmas! The philosophy of a "little goes a long way" was wasted on my
teens and the product was certainly wasted all over the counter, sink and floor!

Since my skin is prone to breakouts and already has signs of early aging, I still remained curious if mineral make up would help my skin return to
a healthier state. I would go to the drug store or department cosmetic counter and get totally intimidated trying to decipher best brand, price, and best ingredients.

My answer to my mineral make up dilemma was Carrie Strimel. We met recently at a women’s luncheon. She told me her sad tale of skin woes
and her long quest for make up that did not leave her skin itchy and blotchy, (boy does her skin look great now)! Her desire for toxin free
make up lead her to the created Sheer Naturals Mineral Make Up. http://www.mysheernaturals.com/ I was instantly intrigued and wanted to learn
first hand what to look for in a mineral make up.

What an education she gave me! I didn't realize that our skin could absorb 60% of what we put on it! No wonder my skin has had problems!
As Carrie said, "our skin is our best judge of what's good for it"! So I humbly apologized to my skin and let Carrie apply her make up on me with subtle artistry!

Since Sheer Naturals is free of bismuth, talc, dyes, fillers and preservative, I knew my skin was in for a treat!

I was concerned it would look "cakey", but after it settled on my skin for a few minutes my skin had a nice healthy glow. The finishing touch was a light dusting of
Pink Mineral Veil to add radiance to my skin! The colors she selected were natural looking and matched my skin tone perfectly.

I even worked out later that day and my make up still looked fresh. I just blotted my nose lightly and kept going!

Carrie has assured me that by switching to make up free of harsh chemicals I would start to notice improvement in my skin's break outs and
pore size. I wish I had taken the health of my skin more seriously when I was younger! Good news is that it only takes 3-4 months for our skin to fully regenerate
the top layers of skin cells which reassures me that it’s never to late to start!

Sheer Naturals also contains titanium dioxide which naturally provides 15-20 SPF. That helps address my future sun damage concerns!
Carrie's ingredients are also not “micronized", ( a new technique of making the mineral molecules smaller so they blend better). This is a new twist on
mineral make up that has some dermatologists concerned about smaller molecules of some minerals being toxic. I found this article helpful in getting a better grasp
on understanding why Carrie has been so careful with her ingredients
