During my pregnancy, Margie was a great source of information, a lot of which I didn’t find in my birthing books. But it was her calmness and constant encouragement during my labor that I’m so thankful to her for (plus the fact that she drove to the Westside at 2 a.m. and didn’t leave my side for the next 20 hours). When it turned out that I was having back labor and wasn’t progressing, it threw my whole birth plan out the window. Having someone there who is knowledgeable and on my side to discuss my options gave me conviction to make the choices that were right for me. After we decided on an epidural, we switched gears and from then on, Margie helped me prepare for everything that followed. I was really scared of needles and she calmly guided me through the process (since my husband wasn’t allowed to be in the room). Throughout the entire labor, she was a constant champion for us with the doctors and nurses. Having my husband there was very helpful, but Margie, with her store of knowledge and the fact that she really looked out for us, gave me peace of mind to do what I was there to do: deliver a beautiful baby boy. I would definitely recommend her to anyone considering a doula.

I cannot say enough good things about having worked with Margie. She was such a positive force in my journey to motherhood. She encouraged me to consider options that I might not have done otherwise and was completely supportive when I decided to switch doctors/hospitals near the end of my pregnancy. When I was in early labor, her support over the phone kept us first timers from showing up at the hospital a day early. Later, as labor progressed she came to our house (4AM?) and helped us decide when to leave for the hospital. During our time at the hospital she was an amazing support to both my husband and I. She made sure I understood the reason for any medical procedures and helped to ensure our birth plan was followed. Having had so much experience, she knew ways to help ease the pain of labor. She helped to ensure my husband was comfortable using those techniques. I hold Margie in the highest regard. I would (and do) recommend her to everyone.

Margie has helped me birth both of my daughters. Her visits before the birth are calming. Her availability over the phone is invaluable particularly when early labor drags on for a week and just won't move along. Somehow she made it possible for me to get through two births without drugs. I can't imagine having a baby naturally without her. She truly is amazing.

The births of both my sons were amazing and empowering and I could not have done it without Margie and my husband's support. Her gentle support helped me to feel strong when I was most vulnerable. She was able to help me relieve some of the pain in my natural births and her presence was invaluable during those difficult contractions and I know I could not have had a natural birth with my first son without her support. She was always very calm and respectful and knowledgeable.

My husband and I were both really happy that we chose Margee for our birth. She helped with so much information prior to the birth. As it started to look like I might have to go with things I didn't want (pitocin, etc), Margee was great at preparing me without pushing or making me nervous (a real feat!). For medical reasons I had to have an emergency C section, but as each development came along, she explained and prepared us both in a way that kept us comfortable with all that was happening. Her calming presence and soft voice kept me focused on the big goal- healthy birth for me and baby. Thanks to her extensive experience and guidance I have no regrets about a birth that played all off my 'don't want' list from my plan. (My son had a full knot in his umbilical cord that tightened when it came time to push.) We'll call her for the next birth !

Margie delivered both my children and I highly recommend her to any mom. She was wonderful to have during my births. She was extremely helpful, caring and informative during the whole process and gave me all the support I needed. Next to my husband of course. *wink*

Margie was my doula for my daughter (c-section due to breech position- March '06) and son (VBAC- Feb '08). She was so helpful to me and my husband in so many ways. She helped explore every possible way to turn my breech baby and although they were unsuccessful, she was an amazing support during my c-section and made sure I got my baby as soon as possible in recovery and was successfully breastfeeding her before she left. She took amazing pictures of the baby being delivered that we will cherish forever, since neither my husband or I could see it. When I became pregnant again, she helped me find a new doctor who would be willing to allow me to attempt a VBAC. She was so positive and encouraging throughout my pregnancy. The labor and delivery (with no epidural) were such an emotional experience that I am so thankful I was able to have. There is no way I could have done it without Margie. She is so calm and reassuring, which is what I needed. I highly recommend her!

Margie was my doula 2.5 years ago and I've booked her again for my current pregnancy. I told my husband I refuse to have another baby unless Margie can be there. She is amazing in every capacity...calming, supportive, knowledgable. With her help I did not need or even want an epidural and when I wasn't pushing effectively, she explained clearly and concisely what I needed to do....baby came out minutes later. Highly recommended!
