My daughter started learning to ride when she was 3 and now she is 6 years old. Icssoma Farm has been a fun and relaxed environment for her to learn about grooming and riding horses from a staff that is really patient and friendly. They are fantastic!

After attending a horseback riding camp last summer my granddaughter fell in love with riding. I put it off as long as I could - I thought it would be too expensive - but realized with her entering her double digit year, 10, horseback riding was a great past time as well as confidence builder. I've also read reports about how girls who put their energy towards horses, well, focus their energy in more positive ways. I had considered martial arts and we did the soccer thing, but the horses never lost their appeal. As I drove to Iccsoma Farm I wondered what I was thinking... being so far out in the country. I certainly couldn't just drop her for her lesson and run off to do my errands. But, what I wasn't noticing at the time was that I was beginning to relax more and more as I drove further up Tilton Rd.
My grandson and I sat and watched while my granddaughter had her first lesson, which included grooming and tacking. After the hour it was hard for me to leave. I too had fallen in love. I thought of our family spending quiet Saturdays at the farm, soaking up the sun, and sounds and smells of the horses. I decided I wanted to ride too. So, at 51 I began horseback riding lessons. The following week my granddaughter, my 6 year old grandson and I began to learn how to brush horses, pick feet and saddle up. Casey, our instructor, has been so positive, supportive and PATIENT with us. Susan see's us every couple of weeks and never hesitates to point out how far we've come! Saturday has become our very special family day.
Because Icsomma is a rescue farm my grandchildren have an opportunity to work within their community in a meaningful way. I've told Susan I'm never ready to go home and she has assured me there will ALWAYS be something to do. Anything from grooming the horses to painting to weeding to...,
And, for an incredible meaningful family day on the farm, it's actually ended up being quite affordable and certainly worth every penny.
And as for soaking up the sun? We ride rain or shine, coooold, windy... it is not an experience we ever choose to miss.
