Yet Another Jogging Stroller Question

The facts:
I'm doing a couch to half marathon program. In order to make sure I'm successful, I'm going to have my little guy (now 7 months) with me most steps of the way. In order to do that, I need a good jogging stroller. I'm 5'5", so also need something size appropriate. I'll be running on Dallas city streets and in parks that ocassionally suffer from broken beer bottles, trash, etc. so I need something with tires that can take the environment.

Given the above, what stroller would you recommend? Fixed wheel, or not? Used or New? What accessories were a must for you? Any tips on using a jogger when you haven't run regularly in a few years?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We went to REI to try out the revolution. The kidlet was happy and it was easy to jog with as long as the front wheel was locked. They have the 2010's on sale, so I bought mine at a $99 discount over norm!

I hear good things about the BOB, we went a different route though. What we did was buy a Burley bike trailer, which has a wheel in front that can be flipped down to use as a stroller (they actually sell a bigger front wheel attachment for jogging, but I never got it because the smaller wheel worked just fine). This way, we could use it as a bike trailer, jogging stroller, and double stroller for theme parks, etc (we have 2 kids). The part that I like about it as a jogging stroller is that because the center of gravity is so low and the back wheels are so large, it is seriously FEATHER light while running. No lie, I can push it with 2 fingers with my daughter in it and she weighs 38 lbs plus the weight of the trailer. However, it is very expensive (like 450 bucks-we justified it because it was going to be triple purpose for us)...I would not recommend this plan with a cheaper bike trailer though. Burleys are very well made compared to the discount store types. I would suggest looking on Craigs list and trying to find one used if you don't want to pay that much. It is going to be wider than a regular jogging stroller though, however it is very easy to maneuver despite its size. Happy running and best of luck on your half!

Get a BOB Revolution. It has a front wheel that can swivel or be locked. Just be forewarned - using a jogger is MUCH different and more difficult than just running by yourself. Your arms will be used to push the stroller as opposed to helping you run. You'll also be pushing your baby's weight plus the weight of the stroller, so that could be upwards of 40 pounds.

I really like my baby jogger fit. Fixed front wheel and good tires for what you want.
