Alright ladies. I have picked up my Tybo really hard... I am hurting. Does anyone know how to make these stop so that I can work out again tonight? I want to keep up on this but I dont want the pains that go with it.

Warmly,

Christina

Lots of fluids, stretch against the pain, hot bath.

I love bubble baths. I have a lamp with a low watt bulb, a CD player for soft music, a bath pillow and a nice scented candle. AAAAHHHHHH close the door, fill the tub, soak 20-30 minutes with eyes closed. I even shave and wash my hair all done and it feels so good.

And when I open the door the dogs are at the door wondering where I went and what I was doing. ;-))

Take a rest and just do some stretches to give your body a bit of a break. You can do some real damage if you push too hard.

Good luck,
Dawn

How long was it since you did the last exercise? Typically, when you do a tough workout, and you get sore you need to rest for a day or two from that. You should still walk or something a little easier to help keep your muscles loose.
There are two types of soreness - the stuff you get right away is from lactic acid buildup. A good cool down will help with that. The pain you feel after that is because your muscles get teeny tiny tears in them, and it's completely normal. It's part of a good workout, but you do need to let them get better for a day or two.
I get this whenever I move on to heavier weights. During this transition, I will do weights one day, and plan to do cardio for the next 1-2 days because I know I'll be sore. Stairs are never fun after that :(

Congrats on starting your Tybo, keep up the good work!

If this is muscle soreness after a hard workout...keep moving. The worst thing you can do is sit around for 2 or 3 days and let the muscles get stiff. If I get sore from a workout it is usually day 2 after the workout that is the worst, but you need to keep moving. You want to do something different though, not necessarily work the same muscle group..or just go for a good brisk walk or run instead. Eventually your body should adjust if you keep it up and the amount of soreness after each work out will lessen.

Also, make sure you are stretching afterwards and eating within 45 minutes of a hard workout (optimize in 45)

The best way to get rid of sore muscles is to re-exercise those same muscles. Take some Advil, or whatever, and enjoy your Tybo tonight!

Good for you.

Do more of what made it hurt.

Tae-Bo is derived from Tae Kwon Do, a very intense martial art form. I know some Stance work(part of my Mother's posture course), and it's all depending on a lot of factors.

Horse-Stance, which is also a fundamental in Tae-Bo(mainly because it's in every martial art I've ever seen, but called different names), works glutes, all parts of your legs....etc. Done right, it will hurt as you are creating muscle memory(they call it "the burn" for a reason). Once you have it down, it will hurt less. I know when I do my Yoga, if I haven't done it in a while, my muscles reflexively tell me that they are working, with good old-fashioned pain.

Depending on where you are hurting, and how long you have been doing this, will change the answer. Are you ramping up the intensity? Are you just beginning? Do you do warm-up stretches? Do you do cool down stretches? Do you have weights with your workout? Are you wearing comfortable clothing to workout in? Are you wearing comfortable, broken in footwear(new shoes will throw off EVERYTHING)? Are you wearing a proper exercise bra to properly support? Are you drinking enough fluids? Are you feeding your muscles the proper foods?

A good workout capper is a banana and yogurt or milk, or a shake made with a brick of tofu, bananas, milk, and whatever other frozen fruit you want in it.

Without this information, answers will only be guesses.

Take a Motrin, drink water, and keep at it.

The pain in your muscles is lactic acid. The only way to get it out is to keep moving your muscles.

Take a nice walk if you have time. Stretch and try to work out some of the lactic acid before your workout tonight.

Enjoy!

You can work out again even if you're sore. You might want to take it down a notch for the next workout, or do a different form of exercise (power walk, yoga, whatever you've got). Walking will loosen your sore muscles -- may want to get out and about a bit during the day today if you can. The more you sit the longer it will take you to feel normal again. Good luck!

Stretch. Stretch more than on the video.
I have Tae Bo.
Now, if you are going gung-ho and were not in good shape prior and are just going with full on gusto... you will get sore and you may get injured. Fitness is gradually attained.
Some people get workout injuries because they are working out too much/too hard/too intensely at first.

Soak in a warm bath with Epsom salts in it.
Take Advil.
And stretch much.
