I am looking for a women's shelter or other organization to donate some children's clothes as well as some maternity clothing. Any suggestions? Preferably close to northwest side of Chicago.

The House of the Good Shepherd is located at 1114 W. Grace Street in Chicago. Their phone number is ###-###-####. This is a shelter for Battered Women and Children who are homeless. It is a wonderful organization and they are always very welcoming of mom and child related donations as well as basics (personal hygiene, day planners, etc).

I have donated a bunch of items to the Infant Welfare Society at 3600 W. Fullerton. ALthough it's not a shelter, they provide medical / dental services to needy pregnant women and children. They have been around for 70+ years and are a very reputable organization. They take everything pretty much except furniture. They either donate it or people can purchase it at their store at very low prices.

I've donated at the Gospel League Home on Grand Avenue just west of the Grand/Halsted/Milwaukee intersection. Any donations are very gratefully received and they will give you a receipt for tax purposes. Also, it is not in a bad neighborhood.

I'd like to do this, too -- does anyone know of organizations with dropoffs in N/NW suburbs? (Or pickup service)

Thanks!

I recommend the House of the Good Shepherd as well.
