Where Can I Get Granite Countertops for a Reasonable Price?

Do any of you mom's know of a place in St. Louis where I can find reasonable granite countertops? My kitchen is in great need of new countertops and we think the granite will add a little value and really give our kitchen a boost! Of course we went to the big hardware stores, just to get a feel for colors and such, but they're SO expensive, I thought it would be smart to shop around. So if any of you have gone through this renovation and can give me some suggestions, I would be so grateful!!! Thanks a million!

What can I do next?

K., I don't know how we ever came across this place, but when we first redid our kitchen we bought our countertops from them (laminates, not granite...they didn't carry it at the time)

My boss's daughter recently bought a fixer-upper, so I told her about the place. We went and looked and they now carry granite! At $16 per foot! I think the color were limited at that price, but it's a good place to start and compare what they have.

BTW, I'd only go there during the day. :) It's an old building, looks practically abandoned. You park on the gravel parking lot on the corner (at Jefferson & Cass Ave), walk through the warehouse-looking area and the office is in the back. Friendly people. Almost always busy.

K., my husband does kitchen/bath remodeling. Our business is on Mamasource, Kitchens and More. He may know the best place to buy granite countertops and also could install them for you. You can call Kevin at ###-###-#### and just mention you got his number from Mamasource! Good Luck!

Hi K.,
There's a place in Collinsville, IL. I don't remember the name it's something like Home Improvement Warehouse or something like that. It's off I255 at the exit for Cahokia Mounds and Collinsville. You can see it off the highway. There's a Jack in The Box near it and a Schnucks. I hope this helps.

Unfortunately, there are no cheaper alternatives because everyone (contractors) in the St. Louis area purchases their slabs from the same place - in an industrial court up off Page Ave - except for those large hardware stores you mentioned. The only way you can get them cheaper is to find some extra pieces that are on closeout, depending on the size of your kitchen area. I don't remember what company it is, but there is a billboard on hwy44 near the Chrysler plant that advertises this. There is a place right behind Sam's in Des Peres that is a little more reasonable also. Finally, go visit the Tile Shop - there is one in Ellisville & others listed in the phone book. They have marble tiles that can be used on kitchen counters. It can be very pretty and a more reasonable alternative, but you'll have a longer "messy" period because it takes longer to install it. Good luck!

There is an outlet in florissant that opened a few months back and I cannot remember the name of it. It is where the old Big Lots store and the post office is there also.

I would check at Cabinets Flooring and More- we have purchased from them before and they are very reasonable. I believe their granite begins around $35-40 per linear foot.
