HI I just purchased myself a baseball glove. Husband and boys have their own. I LOVE having a catch. What is the quickest way to make my baseball glove soft. Thank you. Jan

There are a lot of ways to break it in. I think the best way is to use it. But, you can heat it, then wear it for a while. You can place it under your mattress with a ball tied in it, then sleep on it. You can play catch with it while watching TV.

Good for you, don't get left out of the fun.

We take a new glove put some linseed oil or lanolin on the inside of the palm area where you'll catch the ball. Then put a baseball/softball in and wrap with rubber bands. You can put it in the sun to soften it up which will help mold it to the ball. Leave it that way for a few days, you can put something heavy on top to help the process. When you remove the bands spend a few minutes tossing a ball into it over and over, hard.

I've heard of people putting them in a microwave but I'd be worried about over "cooking" and breaking down the leather.

Honestly the very best way to break it in is to use it. After a year or so it will be perfect for your hand and the ball. After that, don't lose it, that thing is a one of a kind custom. Have fun!

Shaving cream!

Or, there is something you buy in a spray can, spray it in and bake it in the oven. Hot Glove, I think--at sporting good stores.

Put two baseballs in the pocket & bungee cord it closed. Leave it overnight.

Oil it, fold it the way you want it to close, rubber band it tightly, and (NOT KIDDING) park your car on it for a day or two.
After that, reoil it, place a ball in the glove, and rubber band it again to form a pocket.

My husband does what Missy F said. He oils them and then parks on top of them...works like a charm!

oil it with neatsfoot oil, and use it!
your hand will get oily, but that's okay. the glove will 'break in' perfectly to your hand.
