My son is 7 1/2 months old and has been breastefed exclusively. He has been eating solids since he was about five months. Now that he is snacking more on foods that I eat and eat a lunch and dinner solid, it doesnt seem like he wants to breastfeed as much as he use too. I know babies wean themselves off of some feedings but I'm just wondering about how many feedings a day is the norm. He used to eat 6 or 7 times a day. He's a hungry lil guy. But now its about 5 or 6, sometimes (today) only 4 times. Its just concerns me he's not loosing any weight or anything but I would just like to no some other moms routines. Thank you so much in advance

My babies also reduced their nursings as they ate more an more solids. We ended up with a four feeding schedule through the day--at wake up, before lunch, late afternoon, and bedtime. The solids give nutrition and fill their bellies, so they do replace some of what the baby gets from breastmilk (or formula). As long as he's not losing weight, don't worry. :)

My youngest weaned himself when he was six months. I really didn't want him to, but he was bored of being squished up against my breast and wanted to see the world. He just finally refused and that was the end of that. He made up for it with the other things he ate and drank. No worries.

You can also start (if you haven't already) pumping and freezing milk for bottles. The pumping will keep up your supply and he will be able to continue having a couple of bottles a day of breastmilk for as long as you want to keep it up

My kids both started to drop nursings once they started solids. They too were nursing 6 times before solids. Buy the time solids were well established, (around 8 or 9 month for us because we did not start until 6) they did 4 (when they woke up, late morning, mid afternoon, and bedtime). Then at 1 I stated to ween, still doing wake up and bedtime but switching to milk in a cup during the day. It sounds like your son is on a similar path.
