I need advice ladies!! For a year or so, I have had heavy bleeding in between my periods. I have not been on the pill. So, it can't be breakthorugh bleeding. I've had it probably 4-5 times. Lately, I have had severe uterine pain. Sometimes the pain even goes into my legs. I have been to my gyn about the bleeding several months ago, when it first started and he had the audacity to blow it off and ask me if I was depressed!?! (he did no further testing) Anyway, I am not going back to him!! I need to find a good gynecologist in the sachse, garland, even plano or richardson area. And, has anyone ever had this and found out the cause? How? What tests were done? I want to be taken seriously by my doctor who I go to see. I have to be honest, I recently saw a show on uterine cancer, and am scared about my symptoms. Respond and let me know what you think... Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much to everyone for all of the wonderful advice. I went to see Dr. Spooner and it turns out that I have 2 ovarian cysts (I have a histroy of) and a uterine fibroid. We haven't discussed treatment yet, but I know that she will take good care of me! I recomend Melinda Spooner. She is fabulous! Thanks again for all of the sweet comments. It's nice to have other women out there to share with...

I agree with Tracy, Northlake OBGYN is terrific. I see Dr. Jean McClintock and she is wonderful. Dr. Roberts delivered my first baby via c-section. This is a wonderful group of Drs. who truly care! Their phone number is ###-###-####. I still drive from Mesquite to Medical City Dallas to see her!

I have not experienced your symptoms so I can not comment on that aspect of your post. However, I do agree with you that you need a new GYN. I have one I've used for years (she just performed a hysterectomy on me a few weeks ago). Her name is Melinda Spooner. She is located in Plano at 15th & Coit. Her phone nunber is 972/964-5514. Please call her office on Monday. You need to be seen by someone who will take you seriously and take measures to determine the cause of your symptoms.

Good Luck,
R.

My mom had this and it's caused by benign fibroid cysts in her uterus. She was pretty much having a nonstop period. I think the doctor ran some simple blood tests and did an abdominal ultrasound, as well as a biopsy (to rule out cervical cancer) and that's about it. It wasn't anything more invasive than what you'd expect at an annual appt. When the diagnosis came back, she prescribed birth control to keep the bleeding under control. Later on she might have to have a hysterectomy, but right now our doctor doesn't think it's necessary. Definitely find a new doctor though! Heavy bleeding is not caused by depression!

I have had that before and I was scared to death! It ended up being a uterine infection. Dr couldnt' tell me HOW I got such an infection, just that they sometimes happen. He did a uterine biopsy which came out fine and I was put on flagyl for quite some time and all the pain, excess bleeding went away. I have been having the pain again lately, so I KNOW I need to get back to the dr (that pain that goes down through your legs is terrible! reminds me of labor when I have it)...but I haven't had the bleeding yet...so i am hoping I can get in soon and catch it early. A friend of mine gave me the name of an awesome obgyn, but I have since lost hte info...I will get it from her again and send it to ya....
hope you get to feeling better soon!!!
hugs

My cousin had that a few years back - turned out it was endometriosis. Definately ask about that. She ended up having to have surgery, and felt sooo much better afterwards.

I would make an appointment with Dr. Bruce Roberts at Northlake OB/GYN. He's wonderful. They are located in Medical City right off 75 Central and Forest. Their number is ###-###-####. They have a lab and sonogram technicians in their office. I can't say enough about this group of doctors.

I cannot believe your doctor. That is terrible. I have a doctor I just adore. She is at Parker and the Tollway in Presby Plano. She takes her time and listens. She is the kindest doctor I have ever found. Her name is Kelli Watkins ###-###-####. 6200 Parker, Suite 306, Plano. She is also very thorough! I am sure you are fine but you defintely need to see someone to help you.

I am having that right now and they did an ultrasound and found a cyst. I would find a female doctor - just my advice. We are watching my cyst for a month - it is the size of a plum - I will more than likely have surgery to have it removed.

i do not know of a GYN in that area but this was my experience and just for the record the doctor you went to should be reported. He is a nut case. Think of the ultimate damage he could have done to someone who listened to him and did not get treated that could have a life altering condition.

I had all the symptoms you had 12 years ago. I went to a Doctor in CA and told her my symptoms she did a pap-smear and a sonogram. Visially she was able to see that I had cysts on my ovaries. They were what was causing my bleeding. They operated removed the cysts and I have had no problems since. I do not want to scare you. Your problem could be several different things. You should go to a doctor and tell them your symptoms and how you feel what you are thinking. Any good doctor will know how to proceed. Do not put it aside sometimes the most crucial thing in an illness is timing. Wishing you the best of luck.
