I have an ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow and I'll be attending by myself as my husband is out of town on business. He is due to come in tomorow evening and meet us for dinner. We decided to find out what the sex is and have the tech. write it on a piece of paper and we would let our 6 year old read it to us at the dinner table. My husband wants a boy and I am really hoping for another girl (we have two already).

But I would hate to get to the Ultrasound and the baby is sleeping and I can't get an answer.

Any suggestions to make the baby active for an ultrasound?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

The little terror went CRAZY with the caffeine hit and decided to breakdance in mommy's tummy. The Tech couldn't get a clear view as the little monster was in breach position. *kind of scary, huh?* Thanks for all the tips guys! My appointment was at 2 this afternoon and the little monster is still kicking me as I type this. *do you think it might know that I'm calling it a monster?*** LOL :)

When I had my ultrasound, I drank a Vanilla Latte about an hour before my appt. and the baby was kicking and flipping all over rthe place! A coke would do the same thing if yoou don't like coffee. Congrats on your pregnancy and let us know the results!!

When I had my ultrasound last year, the baby was asleep and the tech couldn't see much of anything. She suggested that when we come back two weeks later that I drink a caffeinated Coke just before the ultrasound. I thought this strange as I know that caffeine isn't so great when you are pregnant. However, she told me that it wouldn't hurt the baby at all, especially since it was a one time thing. Apparently the sugar and caffeine kept the baby awake and we were able to tell that it was a girl. Now we have a sweet little 6 month old. Hope the advice helps, as it did for us!

Drink a tall glass of OJ 10 min before your ultrasound. This will get baby moving just like he/she does at night.

Good luck!

Hi K.-
I would suggest drinking some juice about 20 min. prior to the appointment. It worked for me. Good luck ! (I too recently moved to ATL from Chicago. Hope you are enjoying living here!)

Hi K.,
I am 7 months pregnant and to be sure that the baby will not be sleeping when I had my ultrasound I had sweet stuff (chocolate, candy) 20 minutes before my appointment. It work really good the baby was mooving a lot and we where able to see what it is.
Good luck for tomorow.
