Transitioning from Bassinet to Crib.....

My almost 4mo old little boy is getting too long for his bassinet and it looks like I may need to start having him sleep in his crib :( He really likes to be swaddled & he sleeps on his side. Is it safe to continue to swaddle and how can I keep him on his side, or do I transition him to his back or belly?? Any suggestions for the transition??

What can I do next?

I think that you can continue to swaddle. If he wants to sleep on his side, he'll probably roll onto his side. Otherwise, put him on this back to sleep.

I kept my kids swaddled until they could get out of it on their own.

I started my kids in the crib in naps during the day and then after doing that for a few days, put them in at night.

I kept my kids on their back until they could role over onto their belly.

They shouldnt sleep on their bellies when little due to an increase in risk of SIDS.

aww, I kept our son in the bassinet until he was 15 wks. I hated to move him to his crib..so I know how you feel. I would continue with exactly what you have been doing... good luck!

You can buy a side sleep postioner at Target or Babies R Us. I used one with all three of my girls. You can continue to swaddle him too!

I agree with Victoria. I also put a rolled up blanket behind my son's back to keep him on his side. He got too wiggly after awhile and the swaddling and rolled blanket didn't work for too much longer after this age.
