So recently the thought of eating makes me feel sick to my stomach. I have been eating and dealing with it. But since yesterday the thought of eating makes me want to throw up. Yesterday I went all day with out eating until I cooked dinner for myself and my daughter. I made raviolis and meatballs. I counted everything out and I have never done that before. I did not eat anything today. I had coffee and Ice Tea. I made dinner for my boyfriend and the kids but just the thought of eating really makes me sick..every time I think of it my stomach muscles clench.

What is going on with me...

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I do not and never had an eating disorder. I have known people who have had them but I never did. I also did get my period a month and a half late but I did get it. I do not think this is a sick thing..I am feeling like it is more of a mental thing beings I have never felt this way before. I am kinda scared...I don't know whats wrong with me..I am not sick, pregnant, or have allergies. I went through all of your suggestions...thanks everyone who replied and still replies...So I ate a bagal today forbreakfast and at first didnt feel sick..now I feel like I could throw up any minute. The thought of eating anything else is adding on the the feeling..:(

Have you actually taken a pregnancy test? It is not unheard of for women to be pregnant and have a period the entire time. I know someone that has happened to. If you are definitely not pregnant, and this continues, you should see a doctor. It could be a thyroid problem. I have Hashimoto's Disease and I have many days where I am not hungry at all. I am used to making myself eat whether I am hungry or not...or I'd go without eating. Best wishes...

I am going to suggest you think about your body for a few minutes. It is usually something that is causing the issue.

Constipation. If the bowels are full or clogged the need for food goes away.

Sinus drainage, the goo fills the tummy up and makes the thought of food gaggy.

Feeling overwhelmed and frenzied can also make the thought of eating nauseating too. It makes the food just different, it may be that it's a control issue going on inside your mind too. That your mind is making your body just not want to eat, it could be an illness coming on, depression occurring, stress related, and sometimes my body just doesn't want as many calories. Each time I start a new job I find that I lose 20-30 lbs. the first few months. I think it is because I have so much on my mind that my stomach just takes the back seat.

Calling the doc may be something to wait about. If you are still not able to eat tomorrow afternoon then by all means call and ask them about making an appointment for Tuesday. In the mean time try to drink some 7-Up, I can't stand Sprite when my tummy is upset. If you can drink stuff try some Gatorade (the pink Rain is really good), it is basically flavored salt water but it does have some other stuff in there too. Sometimes it is the oddest thing that will taste so wonderful too. When my granddaughter was in the hospital this Summer with Strep she fell in love with plain iced tea. She drank it by the pint but still, it was all that she wanted for days.

Having a good check up with blood work and perhaps an X-ray would rule out some basic health issues if this continues. The blood work should be a total panel, like for thyroid, infection presence, blood levels of stuff like cholesterol, sugar, blood proteins, calcium, electrolytes, chloride (mine is always low), kidney function, and liver function. These blood tests will rule out anything serious if they come back normal. If not then the doc will have a starting point to go from.

Good luck getting hungry by morning!!!

well, back in September you had posted that you hadn't received your period yet. Have you?

If you haven't, take a pregnancy test.
If you have, schedule an appointment with your Primary Care Physician and tell them what you told us.

not eating is NOT good for you - you know this. it can mess with your pancreas, kidney's, everything! Eat crackers or toast, but SOMETHING!!

Good luck - I hope it's nothing serious!

Wow AG that was a rather rude question. The coffee/ tea can do that if taken on an empty stomach. Or you could be coming down with the flu. I get that way at times and i just eat what i can . try crackers, ginger ale, plain pasta foods that won't upset your stomach.. oh BTW .. many allergy pills have a nice side effect of controlling nausea as i am on prescription stuff for my stomach issues

Any new medication? I started a new medication in May and was fine until three months later when I began to feel anorexic! I'd eat less and less and have to gag it down. Obviously, working with the doc to wean off that stuff!!

This is one of my signs that my depression is not fully under control. When I am depressed I don't eat...but it is more of I don't have an appetite and don't even think about food, until my kids are telling me it is time for a meal or a snack.

To be on the safe side Google signs of depression and give yourself a quick mental check up. There is a standard check list and if you have a certain number of the symptoms it is time to see your doctor. Good luck!!

Could you be depressed and just not feel like eating because of that?

Are you preggers? ;)

Whenever I'm beginning to get sick, or just getting over being sick, I have absolutely ZERO appetite. Your body uses SO much energy to process food, and if it needs that energy to fight off a sickness, you'll lose your appetite.

@AG, I kind of thought that was a valid question, not rude, just blunt :)

Hope you're not getting sick! Take it easy and let your body mend itself :)

Do you have a sinus infection? That happened to me, and I threw up a LOT for over six months. Worse six months of my life. I ended up having to have sinus surgery because of it.

Check with your doctor, and don't go all day without eating. You'll mess up your electrolytes and that can cause you to end up in the hospital.

It happens to me some time it made me worried because I might be pregnant but it went away and no other signs of pregnancy. I do have allergies though so that's probably the reason why. You should set an appointment with your pediatrician to find out what's wrong with your stomach. Good luck and hope you'll get better soon :-)

Could you have a stomach bug or be going through some stress? Coffee on an empty stomach isn't great - acidic - it's not going to help you feel less nauseous.

Try some gentle stuff like yogurt or apple sauce or chicken noodle soup or broth. You need to stay hydrated more than anything so make sure you're getting fluids.

You might want to take a pregnancy test just in case - it would eliminate one question right off the bat. Call your doc tomorrow and see what they say. Take care!

I get this way myself (NO EATING DISORDER) sometimes.

I've found it is usually worse in allergy season. I have been know to eat minimal amounts of food when I have rough seasonal allergies along with sinus.
