Thinking of Starting a Concierge Service for Seniors

I am thinking of starting a small business geared toward providing senior citizens with services such as grocery shopping, transportation to doctor visits, picking up prescriptions, and running errands. Do you have a senior in your life who would be interested in this kind of service? I'm trying to figure out if there is a market for this type of business.

What can I do next?

I have elderly parents in Ft Myers. I would LOVE for them to have such a service available to them!

Best wishes to you!

Personally, I think you would be overwhelmed with calls. Depending on what you charge for services. Most of us with elderly loved ones in our lives that we love and care about in need of such help, most of us having to beat the concrete everyday to make a living and find a few spare moments for our families and self. Yes, I am facing this situation with mother presently. This is one of the things that myself and siblings have been talking about. She is loosing her independence quickly (and she doesn't like it)and in the past year I have used up more than my vacation time in trying to get her to appointments, grocery shopping and such. It is very hard. And, it also puts a strain on the relationship, now, because of forementioned factors, she has become a job to me, and extra thing to add to my list. I don't like that at all. I am not calased, just being real about some of the feelings and emotions you find along the way. Go for it!! Do it!! And please feel free to email me your information if you choose to do this. ____@____.com

Good luck,
D.

I work for a company dealing with Senior Citizens. I think your idea is good. One point a lot of Seniors are on a very tight budget so price of service is a big factor. If you go ahead with your service make up brochures and put them local Senior Service Centers. Seniors use those Centers and always read literature that is around.

The earlier you start planning for your childrens college education the more affordable it can be using a tax advantaged 529 Plan. You can pay for 4 years at a state college starting at $50/month with a wide range of investment options. Please email or call me if you would like more information. Thanks
