Hi,
I'm sure some of you had to be in my shoes before, this is my first time. My daughter has asked for a Barbie Dream Townhouse Dollhouse for Christmas. I have seen it online at wal-mart before Thanksgiving for $125, but didn't have the money then yet. Now a week later I am looking everywhere and they are Out of Stock. Except for Amazon where the price is more than doubled at $269 (that I just cannot afford). Now my question to you: Is there a trick or a way I don't know about of obtaining that gift for my daughter at a reasonable price. I had my daughter choose only one gift out of her long list and this is something she has really wanted. She is really into barbie now since watching Barbie movies. Please help, i don't want to dissapoint my sweetheart <3

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all so kindly for responding to my question :) Especially Megan C. (aka Mrs. Clause).
I have found it on the BN.com website for which she kindly posted a link.It was like she said a fair price at $149, so I did order it immediately and hopefully it will come before the Holidays :) I want to wish you all Happiest Holidays :)

Try ebay. They have sellers with new stock at much lower prices because they don't have a storefront.

Good luck.

My mother-in-law recently saw a chair at Pottery Barn that she wanted to get for my 1 year old daughter. The chair was priced at $169 and she thought that was absurd. So she actually called the company and told them how ridiculous she thought the price was and that she'd pay $100 for it, not a penny more: They actually sold it to her AND shipped it for free. Wouldn't hurt to make a call like that!

I did this with my son a few years ago - the things he wanted were out of stock on-line, so I did the Ebay thing. Also I kept visiting the local Walmart, K-Mart, etc. as they get new stock weekly. Check with your local stores and find out when they have deliveries of new stock and be there bright and early on stocking day.

I know how you feel. Sometimes our wallets just are not in sync with holiday season.

I'm pretty sure I saw those at Costco recently. Have you tried there?

I don't have a magical answer to make your baby's dreams come true. But, I would find all the places that sell it and subscribe to their email list. These stores are having all kinds of sales, everyday. For instance, I found some furreal friends (small potatoes compared to the price of your little girls item) at Walmart for half price. By the time I got around to ordering it, they were sold out. But, a couple of days later I found them on Amazon for roughly the same price. I would subscribe to each store that carries it, check daily to see if it's in stock and keep up with your emails so that you know what kinds of sales are going on. You never know what might come through for you at the last minute. i don't know if any consignment stores might have it, or something comparable. You'd find it cheap there. Also, if you sign up at mturk.com you can complete tasks in exchange for cash or amazon money - which you can spend on their site. You still might have to pay more if you buy from Amazon but, at least, you won't feel the money coming out of your pocket. GL, I feel your pain. Maybe that's why I don't even really ask my kids what they want. If they tell me, I don't make it a long discussion. I'm so bad!

does it have to be a "barbie dreamhouse"? they have really nice 4 ft tall (barbie sized) wooden dollhouses at Target, walmart, toys r us for cheaper. that's what we are getting for my daughters for christmas! they have elevators too.

Are you set on Barbie's dollhouse? Maybe give others some consideration.

Last year I had decided against the Barbie Dream Townhouse as I read reviews that the elevator would regularly break and the overall construction was poor. We decided on the Target Play Wonder dollhouse and have been very pleased. They have since made some nice upgrades to the current model that I wish we had.
