I have 'The Firm' Workout tapes, without the step stool or other thingie. Has anyone ever used this and had luck with it? I'm tired of being overweight, and looking to start a routine. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I got The Firm after my son was born and using the step really hurt my knees. I found that walking a few miles a day until I could jog worked the best. I also go to Zumba class 1-2 days a week. Try a few different things until you find something you really like. It makes it more enjoyable. When I got frustrated with the weight loss, I tried to think of the exercise just for stress relief. That seemed to make it easier to get moving. Good luck. I know it's hard (for me, too) but you really can do it.

The Firm workout tapes are fantastic and very challenging. I also have a few of those tapes but not the exercise equipment. During the workouts, the instructors do show you how to modify the exercises if you do not have the equipment. Good luck!

Haven't used the tapes but our doctor just put my husband and I on a diabetic diet even though we are not diabetics. He said he lost all his weight on this diet so we are giving it a shot. We have been on it four weeks now and my Husband has lost 12 pounds so far. I have lost 7. But the doctor said it is harder for women to lose weight and I have two strikes against me because I also have to take thyroid meds and that slows down the weight loss. He started me on 2000 calories a day. You eat most of your calories for breakfast and the least for dinner. I get 4 carbs for breaksfast, 1 for 10:00 snack, 5 for lunch, 2 for 3:00 snack, 4 for dinner, 1 for 9:00 snack. You can drink all the water, tea or coffee as long as you don't add sweetner or sugar to it. Then exercise three days a week. Walking, dancing, etc. If you have any questions on it I will be glad to answer them.

I've used lots of workout videos and The Firm are my favorite. There are several different series, the most recent uses hand weights and no step. You can do them with weights or without. The Firm videos are all challenging and effective but the most important thing is that you find workouts that you enjoy. Anything that gets your heart rate up and gets you moving is what is important. The great thing about home videos is that there are so many to choose from. You can go to a video rental store and try different ones before you make a financial investment. I encourage you to find what you enjoy the most! Any safe exercise is better than no exercise. Making the commitment to do it is the most important step =) Exercise is soooo good for you for so many different reasons and I applaud your decision! Good for you!
