Teaching Baby Sign Classes

Hello. I am a certified Sign Language Interpreter and I am wanting to start teaching some Baby Sign Classes. Babies can learn to sign before their vocal cords develop, allowing us to communicate with them much earlier. This cuts down on lots of crying and frustration.
I was wondering if there was any interest in baby sign classes??? Anyone want to learn? If I see that there is some interest out there, I will put some classes together and get more details to you. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Wow! Thanks for all of the interest. I have already started developing a curriculum and when I get that completed, I will send out some posts with more details! Sounds like fun!

I too would be interested, J.! I've looked into some things but haven't actually done anything and now that my almost 10 month old is more opinionated, it would really help! Let me know if you begin a class!

Thanks!

I am 5 months pregnant and am planning on teaching my baby sign language as well as myself. I would love to go to classes. I was planning on doing it with the help of books. Let me know what you come up with.

Thanks,
M.

Hi J.,
I would be interested. Although, my almost-3-year-old daughter would be interested (she helps me to teach our 14-month-old daughter different signs), I'm not sure she would benefit in the traditional communicative sense, but maybe the 14-month-old would? The second almost has language too. If not for these two, then maybe the one in my tummy (due in Jan.) for later? When is the ideal age to start using signs? Thanks,
K.

Our community center offers them here in Liberty. You may want to check with your community center to see if they will let you start classes that way. You'd reach a bigger crowd that way. Good Luck and God Bless.

I would be interested in baby sign classes. I have a 20 months old and a newborn. We did some with the older daughter but if we attended classes I think we would have stuck with it more.

Sounds like a fantastic idea. I would definitely be interested. My daughter is almost 7 months. We will be out of town all of August and September but would love to do a class in October before you have your baby!!

good luck with your class my daughters have used sign language for all three of my grandkids and its great. Saves lots of frustration on the kids part they can sign long before their vocal cords are ready. my 12 yo grandson when he was baby was very hard to deal with when he couldn't make us understand what he wanted signs were a real blessing. My 18mo twin grand babies are getting very good at it too. The girl used her first sentence(drink juice please). The boy is a little slower but he knows several signs and will use them when prompted.would like to know where your classes will be and how much they will be.
