I am trying to get my 1yr old daughter off the bottle and onto a sippy cup. I have introduced several to her and none have worked. I have witnessed her drink out of one but when i sat it in front of her again she pushed it aside. HELP HELP!!! Any ideas on how to end the bottle and move to sippy cups?!?

What can I do next?

the key to this switchover is consistency on your part. Pick one cup & stick with it. Give your child this cup every time she needs a drink....& just "cold turkey" cut out the bottle at mealtimes/etc. She will learn to anticipate use of the cup....:)

If she knows how to use them (which was a hurdle for my boys), then you really are fine. She might prefer the bottle, but if you get rid of them and only give her a sippy, she will get thirsty, realize the sippy is the only option and drink from it. Both my boys resisted the switch, but it only took a day or two before they were drinking from the sippy like they had been from the bottle.

We just talked about sippy cups and being a big girl. Then the night before her first birthday we threw away all bottle stuff and the next morning, I asked her if she wanted juice or milk in her sippy.

We also had different ones, so I would "allow" her to pick the one she wanted.

Never looked back.

My daughter (now 2) has still never taken a regular sippy cup, but she LOVES the ones with straws. They still have that valve to keep from leaking, which is great. I don't know if you have tried that yet, but it might work. We went through a million different styles of the regular sippy & nothing but the straw sippy works for her. Also, our 9 month old son drinks from the straw sippy (when he swipes his big sister's) with no problem. This is one of their favorites: http://www.amazon.com/Munchkin-Mighty-Spill-Proof-Straw/d...

Hope this helps!

Why don't you transition her gradually. Have sippy cups with meals/snacks and give her a bottle when she is tired and less likely to want to try something new. She will get it.

I remember this transition quite well because it was TORTUROUS! One of my friends told me about NUBBY CUPS. They have the same type of top (made out of plastic like the nipples from a bottle). My son would THROW every cup on the floor when it wasn't a bottle! LOL! The day I switched to cups I put all of the bottles in a plastic bag... tied it up... and put them in the basement. I never went back. It took a good four days for him to finally use one to get all of the milk out. The doctor said that, if he's really thirsty... HE'LL drink from it! And HE DID! Obviously if he wasn't drinking anything he would get dehydrated... but little by little he learned that the bottles were a thing of the past. Another friend told me to give my son a pretzel with the sippy cup... and then they would drink from the sippy cup... worked great! Hang in there. The Nubby Sippy Cup is my recommendation and don't switch the brand for a couple of months. Let me know how it goes! GOOD LUCK!

I have a friend who uses the OXO Sippy Cup for her little girl (just turned 1) and she said its great, and no leaking!
You might want to give that brand a try!
Best of luck!
