Hi D.,
Babies tend to find their own comfort zone, whether it be swaddling, or no swaddling with just blankets around them, or even a cuddly teddy bear to help them feel secure etc. If your baby at 7 mos still wants to be swaddled, then let her. If she's comfortable that way and sleeps well that way, I see no reason to force her to break her comfort zone. :-) Is there a certain reason you want to break her of this? Swaddling makes babies feel like they're still in the mother's womb...all cuddled up and snuggled, and warm. She'll be fine. And so will you. :-) When she's ready to stop being swaddled you'll see her try to bring her arms out, or try to wiggle out. Then you'll know it's time to discontinue with the swaddling. I would still make sure she's snuggled with blankets rolled up around her, and with her favorite stuffed toy. Make sure the stuffed toy doesn't have hard button eyes, or noses that she can bite off and choke on. Make sure all the material is soft. Best wishes,G.

Hi D., I had to swaddle my daughter until she started to roll over. Once she was rolling over we would swaddle her body only and leave her arms out. That seemed to help her alot. And eventually she just decided she didnt want to be swaddled anymore and just wanted to snuggle with her blanky. Hope this helps a little. My doctor said that some babies just need that comfort of the swaddle and will want it for a long time and some will just eventually give it up. Its not hurting your daughter any to swaddle her :) Good Luck!

some kids are still tucked tihgt in their beds well into toddler. I dont think you can break it. you probably just need to wait it out. My daughter has a routine and as annoying as it may get to me sometimes that just what she preferrs. I know I'll miss it when she's older.

Though if you really want to break any habit then the only way is to stop doing int completely. She'll cry for a few days but she'll get over it. just like when you take the pacifier or bottle away.

Good Luck. and congratulations on your first baby girl. Mines 6yrs now. I miss the baby stuff. I have another girl on the way though so I'm about to see all the firsts again. That's the best part. Whatching them learn.

Why do you want to? Swaddling is great!! It helps babies sleep better and soothes them. Keep swaddling!!
