In the first week of September we plan to have our family vacation with our will be 5 month old baby boy. I just want to know where should we go, the places that can accomodate a very young baby and the air travel is not too long thant will make him cranky. At first we plan to go to Seattle and Mount Rainier for about one week, however right now we are not sure if the baby can handle 8 hours flight. Please advise what the best vacation we can have. Thank you

We have a house on Lake Murray outside of Columbia South Carolina. It is 500 miles from DC and just a straight shot down 95. Check out the link and if you like it I can give you a a third off discount if you book through me. Look at the available dates if you are interested. http://lmv.vrmreservations.com/vrmgr/rental/PropertyDispl... If you can't click on the link, go to Lake Murray Vacation Rentals and look for the house call The View. It is the most relaxing peaceful place we have ever been.

Good Luck, L.

I know the site http://justsettling.com has a section called Getting Away. They have tips for travelling with children and were about to launch a section called Family Vacations... it might already be up.

Good luck!

Your child should be fine on a flight, at 5 months they don't do much do they? My son was 4 months the first time he flew in a plane and it was a 6 hour flight (from California to New Hampshire) and then a 2 hour car ride. I had him by myself and he was fine. Mostly he slept, but he did cry a few times. Bring his comfort item and some of whatever he eats. You can get through anything if its for a limited amount of time. If your son cries hte people on the plane might get mad but theres not much you can do about it anyway. Have a great vacation.

Younger babies handle the flight better. My child went coast to coast around that age and happily slept most of time. However, to make the trip more pleasant on all, you should probably pay for a seat for the baby.
