Strange Interaction with Pediatrician's Office

I just had the strangest interaction with a local pediatrician's office. We have been looking for a new pediatrician. I called an office yesterday and was told that three of the physicians were taking new patients but I had to leave a message for one to see if she would accept us as patients. I left my name and phone number. When the dr's nurse called my husband today, she said the doctor wasn't taking new patients. So I called the office back to see if any of the other doctors were taking new patients but I didn't even have the chance to ask the question. The receptionist told me she "didn't mean to seem rude or hateful" but it was up to the doctor, good luck with the search and she basically hung up on me. What? What kind of doctor's office conducts business like that? This office came highly recommended by a friend. I am amazed. Anyone have any thoughts?

What can I do next?

You need to call and tell the office manager what happened, even if you have no intention of going there. I can't imagine why this would happen, I've never heard of such a thing. The office manager is who deals with everyone in the office, including the doctors. I would call and see if this is the normal way they do things or was this person just being horribly rude. Goodluck

Write them a letter and tell them everything that happened. There is probably an office manager who would want to hear what was going on. Then, find someone else, I wouldn't go back there if you paid me if that's how they treat people!

I went to a new doctor a long time ago signed in and sat down in the waiting room only to be told "the doctor is no longer taking new patients". Seriously, I am not kidding. I was scheduled and everything! Its in Indianapolis on west 10th street. I cannot remember if they said that the office made a mistake but I remember being VERY angry!!!

That is really weird. I work in a dr's office and yes it is up to the dr on weather or not they take new pt's but the front office should know if they will except new pts. I would not reccomend that office to anyone and let your friend know what happend. let me know if you want information on peds.
