St. Patrick's Day Gift

Do people give preschool teachers a St. Patrick's day gift? I saw a mom give our preschool teacher potted flowers last St. Patricks day and I wondered if this is something that is usually done? Also, what is a creative gift idea under $15? I've been giving our preschool teachers flowers and chocolate for every holiday (other than a nice gift card for Christmas) - any other ideas out there?

Thanks!

I hope that's not a thing, because if it is, I'm not doing it!

I talked to a teacher that said this time of year they need more supplies. By now they have run out of all the stuff we bought at the beginning of the year. I'm putting together a bog of snacks, kleenex, folders, ziploc bags, just a small assortment of the supply list just because. Not for St Patricks Day.

Is this how it starts? Some on the ball mom gifts the teacher for some obscure holiday and then all the other moms have to follow suit? Next we will be bringing gifts to the teacher for Presidents day ;)

I've been a teacher for 17 years and worked in a day care center before that. I never got a St. Pat's gift. It's always nice to receive gifts any time, but certainly wouldn't be expected.

I have to admit I typically do not give teachers gifts for the numerous various and sundry holidays scattered throughout the school year. Especially St Patrick's Day - but usually because it falls during Spring Break and the kids are out of school so I forget. I usually get a gift they can use in the class room over Christmas and End of Year but that's about it.

Not usually, but if you wanted to, you and your child could make Four leaf clover shaped sugar cookies and then frost them with green icing and sprinkles.

Its cheap and easy, and a fun project for you and your child.

Not really a gift for the teacher - but I saw this St. Patrick's Day sensory tub idea on a website and bought all the materials so that my daughter's preschool class could do it (I checked with the teacher first).

no, it is not "normal". But, if you want to give a gift why not? Usually trader Joe's has a pot of shamrocks for less that 10 bucks

For me, teachers get gifts at Christmas and then at the end of the year.

Okay, sometimes I am THAT mom...sorry! ;) But, I love to bake and I love themed events, so yes, sometimes I do corny stuff like this! However, I can say that it never even occured to me to do a St.P gift! I like the idea of a CD she can play for the class or even a fun book that she can read to them and then keep in her collection for years to come. Doing some baking with your child would be neat too especially if it was something green or something Irish.

You could also do some sort of pin or necklace that is St. Pat's themed, I know it's a stereotype, but Preschool teachers do have a reputation for holiday themed clothing! ;)

Hi anita-

YES!

Although all my kiddos are 'older'...I have one child that will be developmentally four or five forever!

I do the same for her now...(as I did for the others for years as well).

I crochet little shamrock pins. I make scones, and put them in baggies. There seems to always be one or two 'gluten free'...so I get the donuts...and have them available.

I also send in a loaf or two of irish soda bread for the teachers...to share or not!

I am of irish descent...and just want some awareness of 'my' background!

best luck!
