Has anyone separated the MMR vaccination for their child? If so, where did you go to get it? I did everything by the book with my first born, but have separated all vaccines for my second who is more sensitive. He would get bad colds turned infections following his baby shots, so I started spacing all shots out and he would only get a slight runny nose for 2 days. The ped. office thinks I'm crazy. The only vaccine he hasn't received yet is the MMR. He is now 2 1/2. Brother is 6 and in Kindergarten (a very germy place). The little one is home with me. I am so paranoid about this vaccine and have read 3 books + internet research and still haven't gone to get it yet, so I thought if I could find it somewhere where it could be separated, then I might be more likely to get it for him. I have no worries developmentally, just that his immune system isn't as strong as my first born. He has had a healthier year this year for whatever reason (no vaccination?, Superfood from Sprouts?). He has had 2 rough winters (constant colds)and the allergist (only allergic to grass)said to start him on Singulair for the season. So I might not even consider the MMR or parts of it until Spring. Also, I got him the flu shots when he was a baby and qualified for the thimerisol free shot, but now he is too old for that one. What do you ladies think about the flu shot for him this year?
I want to commend you on doing your research. We did not vaccinate our daughter and she is beautiful and healthy at 17! That thimerisol preserative they add to the MMR vaccine is nasty stuff. If you would like more information google:RFK deadly immunity. Hopefully they haven't removed it from the internet yet. Very informative. Try to build up his immune system, that will help him out for his lifetime.
K., I feel the exact same way. I have separated all of my 9 month old twins vaccines thus far. They don't have any reaction to any shots b/c I have done this (or so I think). I am also very nervous about the MMR (Jenny McCarthy) calls it the autism vaccine. I would love to know if any other mothers have been able to find this vaccine separated....or if their ped will even do that....
I stopped vaccinating my now 5-year-old before the end of her first year. My 3-year-old has never been vaccinated.
My 5-year-old now has chickenpox (I had it as a kid and I'm not worried) and I can't seem to get my 3-year-old to catch it.
I weighed the risks and benefits and decided against immunizations. I knew someone personally when I lived in another state whose son is permanently deaf due to immunizations. Check with chiropractors and natural health doctors.
Arizona does allow philosophical exemptions from immunizations, so my kids can still go to school even though they have not had their shots. If there is an outbreak of a disease that there is a shot for, they have to stay home during the outbreak.
2 books to recommend: "Vaccinations: A Thoughtful Parent's Guide" by Aviva Romm and "The Vaccine Book" by Dr. Sears. The latter of those two might be good for you, as you are vaccinating (he offers guidelines for all-vax, partial-vax, and non-vax) and I think also some information on how/where to get separate shots.
We have decided not to vaccinate (it's scary - very - but so are shots, as you say) and our kiddo has been the healthiest of all of our friends' kids.
