Seeking Unique/Useful Bridal Shower Favor Ideas

My sister is getting married this fall. The bridal shower is about 1 month away, and I am in need of favor ideas. I would like to find something that is a little bit unique and could also be useful...not something everyone will either leave behind or toss when they get home - if at all possible! I had small soaps hand-made for my sister-in-law which was nice. My sister had small candles for me. So can't do either of those things. Any other ideas? I can't seem to come up with anything and I'm running short on time!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Wow, thanks for so many great suggestions! I'm sure I can use one of them! I am going to look into the idea of stationary/note pads and pencils, recipe cards with a favorite dessert recipe, or maybe a pot w/seeds for a favorite flower.

Try Tastefully Simple for their delicious Cheese Ball mixes! Right now, they have Key Lime Cheese Ball and Sweet Strawberry Cheese Ball, tho the Sweet Strawberry is retiring on August 31st, to be replaced by another as yet unknown, sweet one :>)

Beautiful packaging, and the recipients can make it at their convenience. You may want to add a bag of Twisty Grahams to it. There's also pretty organza gift bags if you choose, but I think just the cheese ball package at their place setting is pretty & they'll love it!

We had pencils made for our wedding. I think we ordered them from Oriental Trading Company... they were silver with our names and wedding date. Might coordinate nicely with a notepad or something like that.

I LOVE the bookmark idea...

You can make photo bookmarks on online sites like Shutterfly and such... You could use an engagement picture, if they have one...

But you could certainly also make your own, either with the names and date on it, or a photo.

Ooh, I love the pencil/pad idea too!!! Or personalized pens! You can buy either in bulk... And if you are doing the traditional shower games, you can even use the pencils! I know, tacky, but in my family, everyone STILL plays the dumb games!!! LOL

It's a little expensive, but there's a store called Lush that makes all-natural bath and body products. They make these neat things called bath 'bombs' (like a baseball sized bath ball/bead you stick in the tub)

They have a really pretty pink one called a 'sex bomb' that has rose petals in it. They also have a purple one... Anyway, they're about 5-7 bucks a piece. You could always wrap one of those in a pretty organza favor bag. (You could get the organza bags at Michael's or Joann fabrics...)

Here's the Lush website-
http://www.lushusa.com/shop/products/bath/bath-bombs/

I'd say each gift would come out to less than 10 a piece unless you did more than 1 bomb per guest. And- hey........... if anyone leaves theirs behind... that just means more for you. LOL! :) These things smell SO good! My sister got some for Valentine's day from her boyfriend. I wouldn't even splurge on one because they only last for 1 tub, but as a gift, I think it would be amazing.

I just received a rosemary plant at a bridal shower. In the middle ages it was used in weddings.

For my sisters wedding shower I got Bath and Body Works hand soaps in colors that coordinated with her wedding...they were a huge hit. I tied little colorful ribbons around the tops, it looked really nice. You'd just want to find them on sale and have coupon!
For her wedding I did a candy bar. I ordered those little jars that you make personalized labels to put on and then had different candies that color coordinated with her wedding and everyone got to choose what candy they filled their jar with.
You could also get a picture frames and put a picture of the happy couple in the small frames and give those out.
I also like the photo bookmark idea that Lee put out there!
Have fun with it.

I would go with something that "suits" the bride-to-be:

If she's a wine drinker, you could have personalized wine labels made to place over bottles to give out.

If she's a cook/foodie, then create recipe cards of her favorite and place with ingredients in a basket to give out. Or you could give away homemade jam/preserves with a label that includes her wedding information.

If she is a gardener, you could give out her favorite flowers as well as a seed packet to grow later.

Im a fan of the edible favor. We did soft pretzels shaped as hearts one and put on the tag "All you KNEAD is love" put them in little organza pouches... everyone loved them! The only downside is you have to do it the morning of, but if you have the bags set up its not a problem. Good luck!

My sister was married in October, we had her shower in Septemer, and we made caramel apples the night before. We decorated them with leaf shaped confetti in fall colors. Late July/ early August may be a bit early for caramel apples, but they were a hit!!

I like the chocolate/candy idea. You can always wrap the boxes in her wedding colors.

You could get small bottles of wine and make personalized labels--there are places you can order them, or, you can go buy wine at your local store and buy labels/stickers and print yourself.

You could also do labels with anything else--hot sauce, soda, gourmet bbq sauce, etc.

I just created 7 gift bags for one of my customers. She bought one in-expensive Beauty Blotter package, I divided the sheets among the girls, put a lip gloss and some eye shadows totalling $15 per gift bag. See my website and feel free to contact me. Good Luck! E.

I went to a shower recently and the favors were hand sanitizers, mini lotions, lip gloss etc from bath & body works and they were put in cute litle packages with bows. Edible is good because you know they won't be put to waste. At one shower we had everybody bring 2 copies of their favorite recipe with some of the nonperishable fixings. One copy for the bride and then another as a "favor" for a guest but, then we all swapped. I have also recieved a cute little tea pot with tea bags and a pretty flower pot with a potted plant in it!

I think that a nice box of chocolates is always a crowd pleaser. Especially when you get home and your husband can dig in with you. One friend did chocolate covered Oreos in a gift box. What's not to love?

One of my girlfriends once did a cream and sugar set with a tray and I still use it 10 years later.

A "different" picture frame with a poem inside is nice.

You didn't mention price so it's hard to make other suggestions.
