I am responsible for acquiring trainers for our child care association in Lewisville. I am looking for trainers to invite.
If you are a child care provider.....What type of training do you enjoy most and who would you want to hear at your next training meeting?
As a parent of a child in day care.... What kind of training do you feel is important for providers caring for children?
We have had school teachers speaking on "Pre-school- kindergarten readiness", "Music/Movement", "Parent/teacher communication", "professionalism", "SIDS/Shaken Baby Syndrome, CPR/First Aid", "Contract writtiing", "Organization for home/business"
I am looking for fresh new ideas! I know you mammas out there can help me! Please Let me know your thoughts!
I am looking for creative, energizing trainers for our daycare association meetings. Our training meetings are held in Lewisville on the 2nd Monday eve of each month.
I would love to find trainers for the following subjects
"Cooking healthy for children/ How do we get those kids to eat their veggies?" "Marketing your home childcare business"
"Taxes for the home-based chhildcare provider", "Integrating books into learning activities for childcaren"
I am open to any suggestions on training ideas or names of trainers I can contact.
Thanks in advance for your wonderful ideas!

I am a doctoral student in UNT's College of Education . . . and a parent as well. I would highly recommend child care providers being trained on Alfie Kohn's work -- namely, 'punished by rewards'. If you would like more information, please e-mail me and I can send you some resources.

Hi D.,

I am a Dr. Sears' Certified LEAN Coach and would love to offer my classes to your organization! LEAN stands for Lifestyle, Education, Attitude and Nutrition. I offer LEAN Expectations classes for pregnant and/or nursing moms and LEAN Essentials and LEAN Start classes for parents of kids ages 3-12. You can go to www.drsearslean for a description of all these classes. I'm working on the class schedule right now and will publish it shortly on my blog: www.goodhealthmadesimple.com/blog.

I think our LEAN Essentials class would be right up your alley!

Blessings,

M.

My daughter has been with the YMCA for summer seasons many of the last 10 years since she was a teenager. Now, she's the mother of a well-behavored, mannered, playful little girl who is fun to be around. She gets the credit for that. She received a lot of training through Y required seminars on correcting children -- age appropriate. She runs into many counselors who have not had that training so they use methods they were raised with (raising their voice, demanding, intimidating, etc. These girls don't know how much better the outcome can be for both good discipline and understanding. Parents want to know that their children are giving good boundaries and are not being yelled at all day -- or around teachers that yell at other kids all day. My daughter would be a good trainer in this. She has her degree and working on her second degree in Recreation Management.

How about:
- How to deal with difficult children.
- Circle time ideas.
- Infant Brain Games.
- Different ages and stages (learning, comprehending, etc...)
- Safety and supervision in the classroom
- Team work in the classroom

Just some thoughts. I have been an exhibitor at various child care training events and these were some of the topics.
I believe there have been some recent changes to the rules, as well. It may be good to review those.
Just my two cents,
R.
