Seeking Preschool Recommendations in Lincoln

Hi D.! I would check out the Montessori schools. I would not hesitate to enroll my child in the Montessori School for Young Children. This school is on 4727 A Street in Lincoln. It has a certified Montessori Director and is a parent owned non-profit organization (since 1978). Their phone number is ###-###-####. I have visited with the director and I have observed their classrooms. I would change a few things if it were my school, but nothing that is of great importance and that would raise a "red" flag for me. I am AMS certified and have been in Montessori education for over 20 years now. I would recommend Wee Wisdom for a preschool. It is a Christian preschool located at 53 rd and Old Cheney. My son goes there and he loves it! They have morning and afternoon sessions that are 3 hours long on either Monday, Wednesday and Friday or Tuesday and Thursdays. They have great staff and a great director and a great program! Several of the elementary schools in Lincoln use peer models as part of their early childhood special education program. The kids can start when they're 3 yrs. old. My daughter did this at Everett Elementary, and loved it! The peer models are in the classroom with kids that have a variety of special needs (some noticable and some not). They go through regular pre-school curriculum in the school. Everett has 2 sessions (morning and afternoon). The kids go 5 days a week. It was a wonderful experience for my daughter because she really learned a lot and got school/classroom experience before starting kindergarden. The instructors are also great! I have heard good things about the Montessori school here. Also, my 2 year old goes to Christ Kids at Christ Lutheran Church. They have a preschool there as well which I imagine is as wonderful as the daycare. Small numbers and Christ based education. www.christschools.org
