I have an 11 month old son and am looking to find a few others to meet for playgroups. I live in the Oak Hill/Herndon area. If you know of an existing group in this area willing to take a new member, I am open to that as well.

What can I do next?

I also found my mom's group on www.meetup.com. This group is called The Leesburg / Ashburn Stay-At-Home Mom's Group and dues are $5 a year. There are around 130 members, so there is always something going on, someplace to go, and someone to hang out with. It's a great group of ladies! We're also very active on the message board.

If Leesburg/Ashburn is too far, I'm sure there are other groups on meetup.com in your area.

Hi K.,

Do a search for Mom's club of Herdon. I am in the Reston club and it is great. They set up small play groups and then have other bigger group events. They usually have a monthly meeting where you can go and check the group out. We moved to the area recently and I didn't know very many people and this is a great way to meet people for you and your child.

Hi K.,

I belong to a great Mom's group called Not So Desperate Housewives of Northern Virginia. There are about 45 of us and there are lots of activities planned every month. My son, Christopher, is 12 months old:) I usually host a playgroup every month at our house in Haymarket.

Membership is offered quarterly for $15 a year. Check it out at http://sahm.meetup.com/2027/

If this group doesn't work for you, I know there are other mom's groups listed at the meetup.com website.

Take Care!--L.

Hi K.

I logged on a website called meetup.com. Just type in play groups and the area and you will get a list of them in your area. I knwo it sounds fishy finding stuff on the internet but I did and joined a great play group called Moms the Word and we do all kinds of fun stuff.
