Thanks to everyone that responded to my first request for an OBGYN referral...so far I love my doctor!

I am now looking for referrals for a Pediatrician for my baby that is on the way...apparently I have to chose one pretty soon. My first question is what are the advantages/disadvantages of getting a doctor in Pediatric Medicine vs. a doctor in Family Medicine? And, can anyone recommend a doctor that they really like? I am looking for one that is part of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Camino Medical Group. I think any of their offices should be fine. Thanks so much!

My 2 girls see Dr. Cappiello in Sunnyvale and we love her. Very nice, good with the girls and great @ getting back to you when you leave messages or have questions. However, we have seen other doctor's in her absence and all were very nice...don't think you can go wrong with any of the doctor's in the sunnyvale office. I think seeing a pediatrician while your child is an infant/toddler is best..they will receive more personalized care. Congrats on your first born...welcome to the hardest yet most rewarding job you will ever have.

I use Dr. Elaine Chen in the Sunnyvale office and she's great. Friends have told me they've had great experiences with the ped drs at the Mt. View site too.

HI,
I can give you my experience with having my son see a doctor in family medicine and then pediatrics. At first we just had my son see our doctor, but we came to prefer the pediatrics department because a) they have an after hours clinic in the evenings and weekend (essential!) and b) if your doctor us unavailable, there many more peds available if you need to get in that day. we see Dr. Cappiello, who is great, cheery and professional, but also like Dr. Kendall because she's more fun and silly with the kids. Both are in the Sunnyvale office.

Hi C.!

Congrats on your impending arrival! I use Dr E. Copeland at Camino Medical Group....she's at the West Valley Office on Rainbow Drive in Cupertino. I have been really happy with her - she's very easy to talk to, a good listener, never makes you feel rushed at an appointment, is good with my kids, and she's very practical. She has 2 young kids herself....so she can easily relate to the struggles you're going through, the concerns you have etc. When I've left messages for her with a question, I've always gotten a return call within a couple of hours.

Hope that helps. Good luck with your search!

Dr. Fazilot at the Rainbow Drive Clinic is great. She takes her time to talk to us and is very relaxed. I was referred by a friend and have since referred a few others to her.
