Seeking Great Preschool in Homewood, Flossmoor Area for 3 Year Old

You should look into Epitome of Excellence in Olympia Fields. The director is Telia Chilton. They are brand new and in a state of the art facility that is located in the office complexes off of Governors and Vollmer. The address is 20080 governors way. I would check it out, they are new so they still have a small enrollment, but they more than a baby sitting service, they follow state standards and have a real curriculum.

I have an 8 year old daughter and a 4 month old boy. When my daughter was in preschool we sent her to the Irwin Center's program which I believe is through the park district. She enjoyed herself and made friends/socialized/arts and crafts/learned to share/etc.etc.. although I don't know how heavy the academics were pushed. My daughter was very happy there and the teachers and teachers aids were very professional and fun. My daughter had Mrs. Dolci. I have also had an interest in Montessori Schools and may consider it for my younger child when he is ready. The owner of the Flossmoor Montessori School on Western Ave gave an informative speech about the school/philosophy/etc a few months ago. I was not able to attend but she may do these ever so often at the library or elsewhere just to get more info. Or maybe you can just call to schedule an informative tour of any of the places you are considering. It is important to find that balance and time to focus on work. I wish you luck in your search!

We just moved out of Homewood (not by choice - we loved it there - my husband got a new job). But, we actually did a lot of research prior to leaving and had settled on the Flossmoor Montessori school. I was very impressed with their program and was ready to send my son there when we got transferred.

I grew up in Flossmoor (30+ years), now I live in Orland Park. I am Jewish and I went to Anshe Shalom in Olympia Fields (on Western Ave) for pre school. Although they are a religious temple, the school is open to the public (you don't have to be Jewish) and they have a great program. I have very fond memories of my school days there; much more than my sister does of her time at a pre school called Pied Piper (spelling?). Anyway, my point being that I have more solid memories of school at that age than she does. You may want to check it out. Also, the JCC (in Homewood) also has a great program and is open to the public.

I don't have personal experience with montessori schools, however, my cousin and sister in law have enrolled their children in them and they are happy they did. My cousin used the one in Hammond, which is probably too far from you. I haven't heard anything about the ones in IL but I know there are some in the suburbs.
