I'm looking for a doctor for my husband and I in the South County/Mehlville area. We need a general practitioner and an orthopedic doctor/surgeon. Someone with late hours would be nice as well. Does anyone have a doctor in one of these fields that they love? I have an appointment with a Dr. Fortunato - but just picked randomly out of a book - anyone have any experiences with him? Thanks so much for the help - would much rather go on a referral then just pick randomly.

So What Happened?

Thank you for all the advice. I have an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon, and cancelled my appt. with Dr. Fortunato. Still need a recommendation on a general practitioner for my husband and I if anyone has one they love please let me know.

I can not help you with the orthopedic doctor. Dr. Fortunato is a nice guy.

If you are looking for a female general practitioner physician there is a doctor named Dr. Sri Kolli she is good (same building as Fortunato). There is a husband and wife physicians (family practitioners) that you both might want to see and their names are Helen and Robert Aisenstat they are located down the street on Tesson Ferry the building is called Cedar Plaza right next to McDonalds. Good luck!

The best orthopod I know is Dr. Markenson, he's a part of the sports injury clinic on Tesson Ferry Rd, right by highway 270. He took care of my brother, who broke both bones in his leg just above the ankle.
Good Luck,

For a general practitioner I would highly recommend Dr. Julie Young. She opened her own practice with Gene LaBarge (don't like him very much) and it's called Docs 4 Kidz. They are located near Lindbergh and Gravois. The office is adorable, Dr. Young is extremely thorough and patient, and the office staff is great to work with. Their number is ###-###-####.

I do know (somewhat) Dr. Fortunato. He saw my grandma for alittle while. I think he's ok. He did talk to me anytime that I called for her (she's 93) and would call me very late into the evening too. I know he does run behind at times (but to be fair which office does not). So I think you would be in good hands from what I have talked with him. However I do work for a Trauma/General surgery practice and I think we're pretty good too (if that helps you at all). If you need more info, please let me know, I'd be glad to throw my two cents in! Good Luck!!

I personally would not go and see Dr Fortunato. I was a nurse at St. Anthony's for many years and would not go to him.
I am currently a nurse at Mid County Orthopedics at St, John's Hospital. I work with Pediatric Orthopedics but we have great adult doctors. Some of them specialize in certain areas--like upper extremities or back or lower extremities. Not sure what you need to be seen for....
