We just moved to the Lakewood area, and I am looking for an ethnically diverse preschool for my 2 yr old. A church is fine, we are also looking for a church home. Not looking for full school just a few half days a week.

What can I do next?

S.,
You should check out Greenland Hills UMC. They have a woman minister, and they are VERY diverse. I do not attend anymore because of my location, but I absolutely LOVE this place!

Hi S.! My name is L. and I am a mother of three young children and the Education Manager of the Grove School in Plano. We are set to open in January 2010. We are a brand new type of preschool that will be offering extraordinary learning experiences for children ages 2 to 5. We do offer both full and part time. While the Grove School focuses on academic excellence and school readiness, we also teach the children the importance of a healthy body, mind, and planet. The children will have an organic garden on site that they will grow and harvest from. They will have a greenhouse on site where we will teach them about solar energy. The playground will be a natural playscape with many learning activities available. You can check out the website at groveschool.com to learn more. If you would like to meet at a nearby Starbucks I would love to show you the sustainable materials the buidling in being constructed with. The community in which we are located in very diverse and expect an ethnically diverse group of children. My children will be there and they are biracial. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions you may have. My e-mail address is ____@____.com and my mobile is ###-###-####.
I look forward to speaking with you soon,
L.

I'm sorry I can't help with preschool information, but I'd love to invite you to Fellowship Bible Church! It is located north on 75 from you. You'd exit at Park (right after Northpark mall). The church is located off of Park sort of behind Bed, Bath and Beyond set back in the northeast corner of 75 and Park. For more information, please visit the website!

Welcome to the neighborhood!

It's probably too late to get in for this year, but for next year, I highly recommend The Learning Tree in Forest Hills (at Diceman and Oldgate). They put a strong emphasis on other cultures and traditions. They do several different educational units all based on a particular culture during the year and all of the art, music, games, activities relate to the culture they're studying at that time. For example, they put on a huge African market in the spring with a play based on a traditional African folktale, and the kids make and wear traditional African headdresses and costumes, and they bring in an African drummer who lets the kids play along with him. They also study Russia, China, the Wild West (with cowboys and Native Americans), etc. They offer a summer school if you want to try it out this summer.
