I am a mother of a beautiful 3 1/2 year old who would like to give my daughter a sibling. We have been trying with no results and I would like to know if anyone knows of some natural or some products that can enhance your fertility without going through all of the invasive medical procedures.I don't want to go that route. Do not have any medical reason for not becoming pregnant. Any advice would be appreciated.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am now 27 weeks pregnant with a little boy and it all happened naturally. Thanks for all the words of encouragement.

Try Reiki or some other form of energy work. This is very helpful with fertility issues. Feel free to contact me for more information.

Hi R., Years ago my friends were also trying with no results. I loaned them my book on rhythm (I already had 3 with this method) and told them to use it in reverse. The best I can think of is to place a deposit in the baby bank every day (hubby should love this idea) They soon found themselves pregnant. I will pray for your success. Grandma Mary... mom of 5

How's your diet? Are you getting enough healthy fats? Many women's bodies will not conceive if there's not enough good nutrition coming in. I highly recommend the book "The Maker's Diet" - it's got a great overview of all the issues in what our conceived "healthy diet" is and what our bodies actually need to function optimally. Changing your diet for two weeks could really help. I know my local library has it. Good luck!

Hi R., There I have a 2 1/2 to and am about 5 months along. We had a hard time conceiving for over a year and a half and then we used ovulation predictor strips and got prego on the first try. I got them on eBay 25 & 5 pregnancy tests for $12. If you check the home page on mamasource and go to the sectuon where they archive previous posts you'll find a great deal of advice and incite. There's a section on fertility/conception plus I'm sure you'll get tons of responses to this question.

I do symathise - we had difficulties getting pregnant with baby #2 having conceived almost immediately with the first. It can be really hard, especially if you are surrounded with other moms having babies easily! I felt somewhat less of a mother because I didn't seem to be able to do it again.

I think part of our problem was I got really anxious about why wasn't I pregnant yet, and I don't think that helped at all. We did go and see a fertility doctor, but didn't end up having any invasive procedures or investigations. I found it reassuring just to have the blood tests and ultrasound which said my hormone levels were fine and my insides were normal. The doctor was so positive about our chances for having another baby - we had one already, we were still young etc - that I felt like a huge load was off my mind, and I got pregnant naturally almost immediately (nearly 3 years after we first started trying!)
So if you can find a way to stop focussing on it too much and try to "let it happen" it may help.
I found positive visualisation helped to relax me and keep me positive, and all the various natural remedies etc I tried were a waste of time and money.
I think ovulation kits can help some people but it didn't make any difference to me at all. In fact the month I got pregnant I am pretty sure it was at a weird time of the month, far different from what my previous use of the test kits had told me!
The other thing which may have been relevant was my husband had a varicocele (varicose veins in the testes). The docs said it was irrelevant to fertility but there are mixed opinions on this. He had the procedure to reduce it anyway (very quick - done in a lunch hour and only a day off work) and it was after that that I was able to get pregnant. They are very common in men and can increase over time which can explain why a man fathers a baby easily then finds it harder a year or two later.
The other thing I worried about was the age gap between my kids as I found it hard to conceive a second time. I have 2 girls now aged 4 and almost 9 (4 years and 9 months between them). I had hoped to have 2 years or so between them. But in fact it is a lovely age gap and has meant my older one was a good help when her sister was born and did not suffer from jealousy the way some toddlers do. Plus I have had a lot of time individually with each of them which has been a pleasure.
Good luck and I hope it all works out for you soon.

A book my friend gave me is called "Taking Charge of your Fertility." Very straightforward, non-chemical -- teaches you more of your body's timing. We used it for planning our kids and had only one month's wait with 2 separate pregnancies -- so I also learned that I am frightfully fertile. I wish I could share this fertility with someone who wants kids -- because I am SO done with pregnancy.

Hi R.,

First and for most I would relax. I was a little tressed when I was trying and it didn't happen. So once I told myself it will happen at its own time it did. I used clear and blue ovulation perdictor and this helped me. It took about 3 months. It is very easy to use, and you get 30 sticks per pack. So if you don't get it the first time you can use the stick for the next month. They tell you not to. But I did, because this is a way for them to make more money for you to buy more sticks. Anyway it is so easy you use a the darker the stick gets then you will be ready. However, this is my trick my husband could did not get any loven for 2 days. This way they were ready to go. So if yours can,he has to try and hold out for 2 days. LOL :) Yeah good luck! :) Well I am happy to say I have other beautiful child. :) Good Luck! :)

If you want natural, my #1 advice is: check out www.fertilityfriend.com - its truly amazing how much that site can teach you about your fertility and how to take what your body naturally does and learn to use that info to track the exact days you're fertile!

We've been dealing with intensive infertility for 2.5 yrs and since its a known medical problem on my part we've gotten to the medical treatments/tests i know you want to avoid... but for the first year or so we really just used the methods on that website and its amazing how much i learned about my body and how much closer i felt to my own body (if that makes sense lol). I tracked my basal body temperature and all the small signs my body was giving me and eventually even got into the ovulation testing strips (which are great and completely correlated to the temperature and later on with ultrasounds too, so they really work!) If it wasn't for my body being so "broken" with all my other issues, i'm sure that it would have worked just with those methods and no doctors involved.

any questions feel free to ask me because i feel like (especially at the beginning) i got so engrossed in my fertility that i researched until there was no more to research! lol... i've calmed down a bit since then.

**also want to add - i learned a TON from the wonderful ladies at babyzone.com. (don't get me wrong, mamasource is a great website too!) but the message board i lurked on is full of ladies who are/have been in every stage of the process and it was such an active board with tons of info!! http://boards.babyzone.com/trying-to-conceive-in-general-...

They would be able to give you some really good, natural ideas - i learned about so many supplements and products - teas made specifically for infertility, a product called Pre-seed (which is a product i have used and have heard many success stories from - you can get it cheap on amazon.com). There are tons of things out there - its just sifting through to see what makes sense, many people even swear by guaifenesin (cough syrup) to help fertility, i'm not too sure if that one's legit or not...

Good luck!! :)

A great book that I'd recommend is called "Fertility, Cycles, and Nutrition" by Marilyn Shannon. Also, we use NFP and it helped us to concieve both of our children. There are several different methods out there. We use the sympto-thermal method through Couple to Couple League. You can find info on their website www.ccli.org. A brief overview..You monitor your morning temps and your cervical mucus to determine fertility, or lack of it for those wanted to avoid pregnancy. If you have questions please feel free to ask, I'll do my best to answer them. Good luck!!!

Hi R.,

When my husband and I had our first child we got pregnant right away. Our daughter was two when we started trying for a second child.
After 4 months of trying with no success, I decided to see a fertility specialist and found out that my FSH was extremely high. Other than that we had no other problems to should keep us from having a baby.
I did assisted fertility treatments for 6 months (Gonal F and IUI). I also did acupuncture which I really believe was helping my body because the doctors were shocked by the improvements in my hormone levels and by how well I was responding to treatments each cycle. In spite of that however, I still did not get pregnant.
I decided to stop the fertility treatments and just do herbs and acupuncture (My acupuncturist was also an herbalist). I also tried to improve my diet as much as possible and include the highest nutrition foods that I could. I had a whole food diet with no highly processed foods. I had been doing a lot of research on supplements and what might be best for me and started using Maca, Evening Primrose oil, bee pollen, CoQ10 and Spirulina along with a good prenatal vitamin with Omega 3. I did a lot of meditation and soul searching to try to understand how my emotions might be effecting my fertility.
This January I was really starting to feel like my hormones were balancing out and that I was getting to a good place emotionally. In February, I got pregnant! I am now 16 weeks pregnant and everything is going well.

When I look back on the things that I did to try to conceive, it is hard to say what it was that worked. Maybe it was just a matter of waiting for the timing to be right, but my guess is that the herbs and acupuncture did help my body get back into balance and the meditation did help my mind get back into balance.(The mind/body connection is very powerful.) If someone could not afford the acupuncture treatments or did not want to go that route then I think meditation and diet improvements could achieve the same thing (maybe with just a few key supplements added).
I found that Gratitude, Love, Faith and Surrender are the most powerful forces in the Universe. Be Grateful for all the blessings in your life, Love yourself and your body, have Faith that everything will work out for the best and then let go of the outcome of trying to get pregnant and Surrender it to whatever Higher Power you believe in. Those things alone can work miracles!

I was told that with my high FSH that I only had a 1% chance of conceiving each month. The fertility specialists said that I would probably only get pregnant with doner eggs and IVF. I got pregnant naturally with my own eggs. So believe that IT IS POSSIBLE for you to get pregnant (especially since you've done it before). BTW, my daughter is now 3 1/2 too.
Please feel free to contact me if I can share any other information.
Oh, also..I found Jennifer Bloome's newsletter amazingly helpful and inspirational. You can sign up at http://www.anjionline.com/index.php
Books- Inconceivable and The Infertility Cure.

I wish you the very best of luck,
B.

Get an ovulation kit from the pharmacy.. it really works. Try making love in the a.m. He is more fertile than. Take a spoonful of cough medicine the night before (you) - make sure it's got a good decongestant - this helps! good luck.. and enjoy.. it should happen!
