if you don't mind driving a little ways, we've been very happy with East Bay Pediatrics in Orinda, they're a couple blocks from the Orinda freeway exit off Hwy. 24. Our almost-8YO twins have been going there since birth - their regular doc is Dr. Sarah Handelsman, who's excellent, and we've been happy with all the other docs that they've seen for assorted sick visits over the past 7+ years

Dr. Benway or Dr. Birdsall on Lennon Lane in WC. We've been seeing Dr. Benway since my daughter was born 8 years ago & love her. She doesn't overprescribe or over-react and is a very reassuring person.

I've taken my children to two different pediatricians. We saw Dr. Montgomery Kong (Walnut Creek) for approximately 7 yrs. I liked him and his staff, and wouldn't have changed if not for insurance changing. He always has a smile on his face and a toy for the kids. Office staff was nice too.

For the past three years, we have seen Dr. Phillip Rush (Pleasant Hill). I think both my kids like him better as he actually speaks to and engages them. They say the shots are less painful too (Dr. Rush does his own shots as opposed to a nurse coming in at Dr. Kong's office).

Both offices are clean and happy - Dr. Rush has a fish tank in the waiting room and is probably a newer office.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either Dr. depending on your insurance.

Hi,
We just started seeing Dr. Tessie Okamura on Ygnacio Valley Road for our newborn. She is very perky and personable. What I like about her is that she lets me talk and she listens (which I think a lot of docs have trouble doing...)

We have also had a good experience with calling in about an issue with our son and talking to the advice nurse. She then talked to Dr. Okamura and called me right back saying the doctor wanted to see us and gave us an appointment for first thing the next morning (because it was about 4:45 pm already).

So I like that she and her office are responsive.

Good luck with your search!

My 5 year and and almost 3 year old daughters have been seeing Dr. Montgomery Kong since birth. They both love him as I do. He is very thorough and on top of everything. When I have had a question or need test results, Dr. Kong has called me back that day usually within a couple of hours. I highly recommend him.

I take my two girls to Dr. Kong at Walnut Creek Pediatrics. He's great! We also love both of the other doctors in the practice with him - Dr. Chua-Lim and Dr. Lustig. You couldn't go wrong with any of them.
