Hi!

I am moving to Aubrey, TX and know NOTHING about the area! I am looking for two great doctors: A pediatrician for my daughter as well as an OBGYN near Aubrey or Denton to deliver baby # 2. Also, maybe suggestions on schools and how the pre-k system works in Texas.

I REALLY appreciate as much help as possible ;-)

Thank you in advance!

What can I do next?

I wasn't crazy about my OBGYN in Denton, but my kids' pediatrician is Dr. Van Maele with Cook Children's off Bonnie Brae and she is wonderful!

Cross Roads and Denton both have public preschool. You do have to qualify and live in the Denton ISD to attend. You can also pay ($600 full time and $340 half day) and then you may not have to be in the ISD in that case.

There are several great private preschools in Denton, depending on what you are looking for.

Children's Corner is full day and half day
Cornerstone cooperative is half day and you help
Children's Place is half day with the option to go until 2 (both my kids attend)
Immaculate Conception is full day
Selwyn is full day

There are a couple Montessori schools, too

Message me if you would like more info!

We live in Aubrey too and have the BEST pediatrician ever! Dr. Jeremy Baker. There is an OBGYN in the very same building named Dr. Cortez and I've heard great things about her. They are located at 380 and 377, right in between Aubrey and Denton.

Dr Baker with Presby on 380 is a great pedi. My OBGYN is Dr. Marc Wilson, worth the drive into town. If you have a 3 or 4 year old you may want to enroll her at a 2 or 3 day per week "school" like mine are in, at Southmonth Baptist Church. There are a million to choose from.

caring for women and cook's children are both in denton and have good reputations; pre-k in Texas is half day and is based on your income

Hi, J.,

I live in Pilot Point, which is about six miles north of Aubrey. Laura is right; there is a Cook's Children on Bonnie Brae in Denton and they are great.

Pre-K is based on your on your income (lower income; other factors, like speech problems, are considered also). However, there are private pre-K classes. I am not sure about in Aubrey, but there are two that I know of in PP: one at the Lutheran Church on Division St., which I think is three times a week; and Country Courtyard on 377, which is a few hours everyday. I am not sure on the exact details because my kids are in middle school and high school.

You are more than welcome to email me if you have any questions.

Best of luck getting situated in your move.
H.

I love Dr. Olga Cortez for my OBGYN, and Dr. Jeremy Baker is an awesome pediatrician. Some parts of Aubrey are Denton ISD and they do have a public preK, but I do not know about Aubrey ISD.
