I've just started researching using a pressure cooker. I think this will be a good option for our family as my husband is a vegetarian. Does anyone have any advice, tips, favorite recipes, or favorite websites to share? Are there any features (?) to look for in a pressure cooker? They seem really basic and I saw one on sale in the Sunday ads, but I don't necessarily want to get the cheapest one if that's not the way to to. Thanks!

What can I do next?

* Don't get the cheapest. Buy mid range price point.
* Buy a good size one (not to tiny).
* DinnerMadeEasy.com or Bettycrocker.com for recipes. Or google crockpot recipes.
I say buy a name brand w/elementary features.

Pressure cookers were really popular back in the 60's and earlier and I'm really not sure why or how they lost their popularity. I remember seeing sitcoms where the pressure cookers exploded because the pressure got too high and maybe they were dangerous? I'm sure the new ones are much safer but I have never used one. You are probably wondering why I'm posting, huh? I know that KFC uses a pressure cooker for their fried chicken and of course we all know that its the juciest fried chicken out there.
I'm sure you can type "Vegan pressure cooker recipes" into search and come up with a bunch of things to check out.
Good luck. I know they are supposed to cut cooking time in half, and that's a great thing for veggies.

I brought mine from Macy's and It's by Presto, it's a good one but one thing I will say is PLEASE becareful when using it! One time I was boiling Lamb meat in it and turned the heat off and left it for about 20 minutes and came to open it and burnt my arm! So from now on when I do use it, I turn the flame off and let it sit for about 10 minutes and put it in my sink under cold running water... As for price, it depends on what size you want? I have been buying alot of my pot's and pans from Macy's, when they have their sales they are decently priced!

the bigger the better. I love my pressure cooker. but my word of advice find one that you can find replacement jigglers and rubbers easily. I always lose my jiggler. find a special place for it. as far as recipes allrecipes.com. you can get recipes and ask questions on how to use it.

I'm just curious, I'm wondering why you want a pressure cooker, especially for a vegetarian husband? The only uses I know for a pressure cooker is for meats and canning??? Thanks for asking this question!
