Preschool in Petaluma

I'm asking all my questions of you Mamas today -- we'll be moving into Petaluma next month, in time for my son to start kindergarten. My daughter is 4, and has had one year of preschool at our local park district. I have been really happy with it here, because it's play-based and relaxed (no fees for picking up late for example), and has created a real sense of community. Does anyone have experience with the parks and recs preschool program Tiny Tots in Petaluma?

We recently moved from Massachusettes to Petaluma. I didn't know anyone and started my preschool seach on line. We were so lucky to find "Learning to Learn", on Maria Dr. The staff was lovely and very welcoming. Most preschools wouldn't consider taking on a new student because we moved in March, and no one wanted a new student so late in the year. My little one had a lot of trouble transitioning and they were very kind to let her "find her own way" and join the group when she was ready. I was so proud when she was not shy at their graduation. And most of the moms here(in our area) love the school too. If you need any help settling in, let me know! I was brand new here last year, but we made friends quickly through school. This is a very nice town. And you will not miss the ice and snow!! Welcome! From a mom of 4 girls, ages5-13

My son went to Play and Learn in the fairgrounds and it was wonderful it is a indivdual owner and has another person work with her so it is more personalized she is wonderful. I have heard good things about Learning to Learn though

HI-
I have lived in Sonoma County for over 20 years- and was in Petaluma for most of that (now in Santa Rosa). I do not have any experience with Tiny Tots, however, my daughter and my niece and nephews all went to You and Me. it is a wonderful program!!
please feel free to email me privately for any other info for Petaluma, Sonoma County! If you are looking for a kindergarten, my sister's children all went to Cinnabar school and they loved it.

Hi K.,
I just responded to your other request and noticed this one! Good friends of ours who are teachers (K and 1st grade) have their youngest in the Tiny Tot program and love it. It's flexible and inexpensive. Great summer programs too.

K., There's a sweet little pre-school program called Heart and Hands: http://www.heartandhandspetaluma.com/
A good school is Live Oak Charter School: http://www.liveoakcharter.org/
The best side of Petaluma is the West side: more tradition, more character, closeness to resources, older parks and the Petaluma River passes through it. East Petaluma is tract homes, shopping centers, boulevards and asphalt (the 101 freeway divides the West from the East).
In Petaluma you'll not be far from the Russian River where there is canoeing and swimming; Spring Lake for picnics and swimming and boating, and Dillon Beach, a safe swimming beach. Point Reyes Penninsula offers beautiful hiking trails, especially the Bear Valley Trail to Divide Meadows (open to bikes as well). There are SO MANY other great places here, you'll enjoy discovering all of them. This is a wonderful place for children to grow up! Welcome to Sonoma County! -G.
