My daughter just turned two in september. I started introducing her to the potty a month before she turn two. I started by getting by getting her up and the morning to go. she goes to a learning center now and they also enforce it. But she is a sometimer, sometime is goes on her own and sometimes she does. I am just looking for advice on ways to continue to encourage her also what does the plastic training pants do should i use them?

What can I do next?

In most child care settings they don't even start the kids totally until they are in the 3 year old room. She's rather young to be expected to be doing this well. Give her time, she'll get it when she's old enough. Starting them this young should not harm her or make her adverse to going, it should just be for fun and make it easier when she is ready.

It's been a couple years since I dealt with this situation. My son was a late potty trainer(3-4). I used the training pants as his " big boy underwear" for when he would use the potty. Also at nighttime, too, during the training time.

I used his favorite stickers for when he would go potty and put them on a chart. If he went potty each day for a week, then he got a prize. It helped tremendously. Also an immediate reward helps- fruit snacks were my sons favorite, or m&ms.

She'll get there ! :)

It will take some time for them to take themselves 100% of the time, especially if they are a super distracted two year old. You will need to use gentle reminders and suggestions to help things along.

If she is getting 90% of her pee in the toilet, then put her in cloth trainers.

Helpful ways to get a 2 year old to go potty:
1.let's go potty, I'll beat you there (turn it into a race).
2. Let's go potty and then see who can make the biggest bubbles in the sink.
3. Do you want to go potty before or after mommy (distract by asking a question)
4. Do you want to walk or be carried to the potty (distract by asking a question).

My best advice would be to wait until she's older. My boys were both 3 1/2 before they were potty trained (ok, closer to 4). I've heard many people say that girls will train at a younger age, but most M.'s I've talked to waited until closer to 3.

If you do decide to wait, it will often happen just like that. My oldest trained in just a few days. My youngest took a couple of weeks.

The plastic training pants are meant to be put over the underwear. This is so the child is wearing underwear and feels wet or poopy and learns from that feeling (or learns to dislike that feeling), but the plastic helps the mess be a little easier to clean up. I didn't use them, but I'm sure some parents do and appreciate the mess being easier to clean up.
