My son is almost 3 and I started potty training him last Friday. He goes #1 really well and we are working on #2 still. Tomorrow, the 17th we are going to Six Flags with my husband's work. I don't want to go back to diapers because we have come so far. We will be there all day and I was just curious what other moms did in the same situation.

So What Happened?

Thank you all so very much! We had a good time at Six Fags and no accidents! We put him in a pull up and when i went to the bathroom i asked if he had to go and he said "I will." When we got there the pull up was completely dry! we weren't at Six Flags very long so he fell a sleep on the ride home and he pottied again when we got home still with a dry pullup! believe it or not he acutally did #2 in the potty when we got home last night too! Thanks again!

When we were new with potty training, we did a pull-up while out for fear of dealing with an accident while out and unprepared and he never regressed. It wasn't a big deal to him...kind of like a diaper at night, it's just what we did "just in case" so he went along with it. Then I stopped when he was completely trustworthy not to have accidents. I too would do a pull-up and then just periodically bring him to the potty and ask him to go (if he goes on command) with the goal of keeping the pull-up dry and not having an emergency run to the potty. Have Fun at Six Flags!!

My daughter turned 3 in July and she has been potty trained for 2 weeks. (I still put a pull-up on at night just incase) Last week I had to take her with me to practice and there are not any bathrooms. I put a pull-up on her - she still told me when she had to go. So I suggest a pull-up, tell him just incase we don't make it to the bathroom.

Hi C.,

I would agree with the other responder and put your child in a pull-up. Since he is so new to training, I think that is safe. Since the lines will be long over there, it will be hard to take him to the potty every 1 1/2 hrs. But, if you can do it, the chances of him keeping his pull up dry will be pretty promising! Hope that helps!

I took my 3 year old to great america last weekend. I put him back in pull ups. It is an all day event and the lines can be long waiting for a
bathroom stall. Bring your bathing suits-Hurricane harbor is a blast, especially if your 3 year old likes water. Try the wiggles world too. The show they put on is fun and the kids all get to sing along and go up on stage and high five the characters. We had a blast.

I wouldn't go back to diapers, it's confusing. Do what you would do at home - ask if he needs to go, be responsive to weak cues, and be prepared to clean up messes. I've cleaned up many messes, inside and out. It's an inevitable and sucky part of potty training, but it's worth it for the consistency.

Have fun!
